Synopsis

Whether they're part cat, part horse, or part spider, Daisuke has always been fascinated with the uniquely exotic beauty of monster girls. I've read until chapter 30'ish or something. It's a medium-heavy read where the author pours out their nerdy power into a manga. People who hating on this because it's a "slap some branch n' twigs, tie with rope, ta-da! a crossbow" kind of manga seriously need to chill down. Man, it's a manga, how real do you want it to be? Be grateful that there's still some nerdy mangaka left who have the brain and time to do proper research and put "technical" explanation to their manga and not just your generic-trash-fantasy-OP-naive genre.
Also there are people who hate this because it touches gender equality, feminism ...

Wow. What a weird mixed bag. Starts out with a frequently creepy protagonist caught between sexual narcissism, scientific amoralism, cringey nerdism, and bouts of common decency. Extends into an intriguing setting which more than supports itself without smut. Diverts into plausible xenobiology and 'How It Works' pages that actually apply to the real world. Then it jumps directly down the unpleasant rabbit hole of "Jesus F. Christ, when did Ayn Rand start writing H-manga???"

This is a really good milieu story with one or two genuinely unexpected twists. Now, I'm not *complaining* about the sexual content, but to me it ...

Creature Girls is essentially a red-pilled survival hentai that takes itself 100% seriously. It is interesting insofar as the mangaka is clearly a hardcore otaku misanthrope who is using this manga as therapy to combine his hobbies with fantasy characters who act as stand-ins for him to deliver his oh-so clever takes on society and isekai technology. I won't comment any more on the gender war stuff, as that has been well covered by other reviews, and because the author is taking the piss on readers. At the end of volume 4, he uses a monster girl character to directly ask the reader if they ... were triggered, before delivering yet another multi-page essay critiquing feminism...

Instead, what gets my goat are the pseudo-scientific explanations and engineering hacks. This is someone who went through the effort of doing significant research on medieval technology, bothers to give dense explanations of how things work, so they can deconstruct the lazy trope of modern average people effortlessly kick-starting the Industrial Revolution in another world. They establish an arbitrary rule about how their isekai world can't have electricity, gunpowder, or combustion engines, to keep it interesting I guess. There's no magic either. So they draw machine diagrams, give long-winded explanations about chemical processes, and frame everything as a Primitive Technology science lesson. All to show off their own cleverness, and reconcile the protagonists as trad strongmen who earn their tradwife harem thru their own effort. Except, one little problem. All his "innovations" are pretty much Youtube clickbait-tier, like: "I made a refrigerator out of twigs and leaves with this one simple trick!" Or inventions like a giant pitchfork with a set of wheels near the fork end, that rips trees out of the ground, roots and all... using leverage! It's some serious homesteader tacticool BS, if that can be a thing. Instead of the almighty katana- the MC asks for a shovel-pickaxe-catapult swiss army sword, and of course it works perfectly, because all his ideas do. The natives are stated to only be 1000 years behind in development, but are dumbed down beyond that benchmark when convenient for the MC to become captain obvious. Thanks, but I'd rather take the magical cheats, they'd be less embarrassing and insulting than this theater.

It takes a supremely smug mind to rant about isekai cheats and grifter humies, and then present low-technobabble as more intellectually honest. All it showed was the author being a hypocrite on top of being a fraud, and from that point on, my eyes would gloss over every wall of text, because why bother? Instead of magic, the author uses talk no jutsu and wordswordswords to grind you into accepting his imaginary "realism." Once you get the idea, you can start skipping forward in increasingly bigger chunks, or even the entire manga, without missing much. Now all we need is an even more meta isekai to dunk on this one, and underscore how anti-social weirdos will ultimately wind up as rejects even among demi-humans.
