Anis Yamamoto was given a rose choker as a child by her father, telling her not to take it off under any circumstance because if she does a severe "punishment" will be given. Up until she was in highschool, the choker was still there (to choke her), but after some weird bat thingie bumped into her, voila! The choker came off! After chasing the little guy who bumped into her, she came across her teacher! Dun dun dun! And there she learns she is the "Rose Princess" and her knights are also students of her school! What will happen? (The cliche question)

Art 9/10
... Art was great compared to other shoujo mangas. You can easily read their expressions, and can feel them like you are with them in the story. Yes, the art for the characters are very detailed and descriptive, but the surroundings or backgrounds were not as detailed as the characters, but with the story, you can easily ignore those.

Character 10/10
Character development was outstanding! After reading just 20 chapters over...whatev, the characters were given enough screentime to know them well. These kind of reverse harem is what I like. The average girl who wants nothing to do with the knights and their problems, the guy with the hate-hate relationship with the main girl, the narcissistic guy who is overly devoted to his "princess", and the cute moe, girly, adorable guy who you can't help but just love.

There is not a dull moment in Barajou no kiss. If there's no drama, there's comedy to cheer you up. the mystery keeps you thinking on what will happen next. The mysterious past of the Black Rose and the White Rose keeps you wondering..what did happen to them to get the White Rose showing some antagonistic attitude to the Black Rose, and the Black Rose being all angsty about it.

Overall 10/10
It's a great read to the romance, comedy, drama, mystery, reverse harem fans like myself. It's great, nuff said.

Agnes loses the choker and now has 4 knights to serve her forever, whats a girl to do? The manga has had only a few chapters translated so far but from what I can tell the story seems pretty unique; unique enough for a reverse harem of 4 knights summoned from cards, with special powers and loads of roses!

The characters each have very different personalities to each other (all of whom are really well developed especially the knights and its hard to just like one) and the female protagonist I suppose is meant to represent your average school girl who couldn’t care less ... about becoming a Rose Princess.

The art is as one would expect of the shougo genre and it isn’t difficult to distinguish who is who when reading. The overall enjoyment is really good as I read the 10 chapters all in one go; which speaks for itself. A magical plot, with a hint of light-hearted romance, a bit of action, lots of comedy and set in the high school years; a feast for the rom-coms fans, what more could you want?

I found Barajou No Kiss while searching for a reverse harem. While it does have some original qualities, this series does not escape from many of the dreadful romance cliches.

Story: (7)
Anis has a choker given to her by her father which she cannot take off. One day, though, she loses it and while searching for it she discovers she's the Dominion of the Rose Knights. The title includes 4 cards and the servitude of 4 boys, all of which go to her school. It's starts out rather basic and drags on a bit to reach its main plot, and even now at chapter 20 the ... plot is not exactly crystal clear. In between Shouto also manages to add idols, cross-dressing, and magic. So in many ways, it's your typical harem.

Art: (8)
The art style is distinctively Shouto's, which is somewhat different from the norm. Its lines are dark, thick and everything is rather pointy. It's not your traditional shoujo art, but a rather different style that after a while comes to appeal to you.

Character: (6)
This is sadly the worst part due to the fact that it's so full of stereotypes. We have the standard pretty boy that's not exactly what you think; the quiet and mysterious guy; the sweet, loyal, and devoted boy; and the stubborn and hot headed guy that's actually somewhat sweet. The heroine is a little interesting, she's not a complete pushover like every other girl out there, but that's about it.

Enjoyment: (7)
Despite all the typical characters and story, it's rather enjoyable. Shouto manages to make it a little interesting, even though most of the material she uses is rather over-used in shoujo and harem series.

It's reverse-harem, shoujo, and typical. But manages everything in a way to make it more tolerable and even more enjoyable than many other series.

Story.... Well here is the deal. The story starts and lets you amazed. It makes your curiosity BURN!
Bu then, as it continues on, you find yourself grow tired... I mean when will anything be explained here?
And then, in just 4 chapters everything randomly starts to pour the half filled glass...
Don't misunderstand me, I loved this manga...
But I have to warn you it is a bit confusing...
AND the ending was kind of... curt!

Seriously I have read few manga and this is by far one of the best.
I love the idea of the knights being able to be summoned using the cards. This is what drew me in to this manga.
I also love the storyline because it's not simple, there are many twists and turns which keeps it exciting.
I also love the boys too. Kaede, Tenjoh, Mutsuki and, Seiran. They all have such great and complex personalities and they are such a laugh.
OMG and Anis is just, I love her so much. She is my idol.
I also love the ... fact this manga made me laugh hysterically and cry hysterically. It really did pull the emotions out of me which is just another reason I love it.
I will say this though, at the end, shit just gets real weird, real fast I was like, whatttt, throughout most of the end chapters and then right at the end the shit just depleted, to be honest I was slightly confused from all the twists the plot took.

I guess if I were to fault it, I would say that perhaps the back story about how the knights became knights would have been some things that maybe could have been included because I did wonder how it all worked.
Also perhaps the ending could have not been so rushed because it did feel like at the end it was just a rush to fit everything in and it did ruin the effect a little bit.
So yeah, exploring the knights a little more and a less rushed ending would have been nice but that's about all the faults I have really.

So overall I just love this manga and I truly find it difficult to fault and while some may not share my love for it and that is fine, I don't tend to judge anything on the reviews it gets as everyone has different tastes and this manga just happened to fit mine.

I read this manga first long time ago, more than 3 years. Started as one of the manga on my free-time-to-read list, it was ranked on my list at the peak fastly. Simply put the genres are fantasy and romantic comedy. The main heroine with 4 heros have to battle their enemies and the complicated struggle they have to face is about the mastermind of all the chaos, he is the main heroine's father.

The story goes so smooth yet tear-jerking, rips your heart out both because of the romantic scenes and bloody-bath. The thing that boosts my ... impression of this manga is how the movements and each characters involved to fill the story. On the surface it appears that the lovey-dovey stuffs will colour your day but to understand it deeper, you need to bear the dark side that cover all of the story and push each characters to their limit. It goes so dark and fascinating!

In the end, I bravely say I manage to make this post! Not just a pic post but also contains of review for this manga. So, the pros are:
Dark storyline entwined with romantic story
Nice fantasy and the meaning of its story
The cons are:
Sometimes a lil bit too dramatic

Considering how hit-or-miss (heavy on the "miss") reverse harems can be, I went into this one with low expectations. I was pleasantly surprised at how charming the story and characters turned out to be.

I think what makes Barajou no Kiss work so well is that it never really takes itself too seriously. In that sense, it kind of reminded me of Ouran High School Host Club. Not because the plots are in any way similar--they're definitely worlds apart despite being reverse harems--but because it starts out as a pretty solid comedy and gradually works in the drama and romance as the ... story progresses without ever losing the funny moments. That way you never really get overloaded with a bunch of heavy feelings from characters you're not even attached to yet.

Unfortunately, the ending did feel a little rushed and anticlimactic to me, and left a lot of questions unanswered. I think it could have benefited from an extra chapter or two explaining exactly who "The Society" was and how the power structure within it came to be. And how exactly all the "bonding" stuff worked because that got pretty confusing near the end.

Very shoujo, very pretty. Details where necessary, but not so many that your eyes get confused. Character designs were all distinct, so I never questioned who I was looking at. The color pages were absolutely stunning. I actually enjoyed looking at the extra pages and cover art, which is very rare for me.

I thought the character development was pretty interesting. Normally you get Introduction>Backstory>Growth, but here it's all kind of mixed in together. You learn new things about the characters' pasts right up until the last chapter, but you get to see them grow and change before you even really get to know who they are. It was neat, and ended up being a lot less shallow than I initially thought. As another reviewer pointed out, the characters aren't cliche-free, but the cliches are done well in my opinion.

However, as is often the case with harems, some characters are prioritized over others. I think the mangaka did a very good job playing that balancing act between the main cast members, but inevitably some will just get more development and page time. If you happen to really like one of the less fortunate characters, you might be a little disappointed.

I have mixed feelings about the heroine. On the one hand, she spends a majority of the story as just a damsel and pointing out how stupid she is. On the other hand, she doesn't ACT helpless, and actually has a pretty fiery personality. She doesn't really get tied down by the romance, either, which is a superhuman feat when you're surrounded by superhuman beauties. Overall, she's not a BAD heroine, but I wouldn't call her GREAT, either. She's acceptable. Good, maybe. And funny.

Once I got through a few chapters, I couldn't put it down again until I was finished. The last few chapters were a little bit of a chore, but I thoroughly enjoyed the ride up to that point. Since I don't normally get that into reverse harems, I think anyone who enjoys them would absolutely LOVE it. Also highly recommend to fans of puns and popculture references.

Now, I thought I was going to give this manga an 8 or 9, but after reading the ending I had to give it a 7.

Story: 7
The story starts off with Anis, who has a choker that is suppose to protect her from some punishment. However, it suddenly disappears when she's out on the school grounds, and then she has the power to summon her knights. That is what initially caught my attention and it was interesting! From having to fight off other people and help protect the world (that's how I saw it as) and then finding out more backstory of different characters, that ... was the interesting part of the manga. However, I felt like this could have been longer and more drawn out, because I felt it was almost all over the place with some aspects. I felt more romance could have developed as well, because there was some! I also thought that even the fighting in it could have been more in-depth. Even the ending left me a little bitter. However, it was a page turning manga during some parts, but the story itself could been explained more.

I loved all the characters. I do wish some characters had more time in the manga and I felt the story of her dad was a little rushed. But I did love learning of the 4 knights and there story! Besides Kaede, he didn't really get a back story like the rest. They were all silly and you could see just how much they loved Anis.

I stayed up til 4 to finish this because it was enjoying to read, and I thought the ending would be great.

I just honestly felt the ending was a little bleh. It was good, but not great. As much as I want to give this an 8 or higher, I just felt the ending was lacking in some sense. BUT!!! I would still recommend this manga.

I really enjoyed this manga. I'll admit I did "skim" here and there when the plot got too dense for me, but I still enjoyed the ride. There are a lot of things you'd expect to be present in a reverse harem style manga which are indeed present here, but the deviations were what stood out to me.

Firstly, don't right off the main pairing as a simple "bickering couple." There's a little of it, but for most of the story they treat each other as (somewhat argumentative) friends, and their relationship grows. I found myself honestly rooting for them and enjoying their interactions with ... one another. I definitely attribute some of this to the FANTASTIC translations for the manga, specifically the main couple. Their very realistic and lively dialogue was so much fun to read.

But the most unique thing, for me, was the relationships between the different "Knights." Rather than the usual lukewarm interpersonal interactions and only focusing on the relationships connected to the main character, all the guys had meaningful relationships of their own which influenced their character's and the story. Red and Blue especially stood out to me in their relationship to each other, and it made me like them as characters a lot more.

Some parts were confusing, and the story dipped in places here and there, but it was a really fun read with some great eye candy, beautiful art, and some humor. The ending definitely felt rushed, but I'll forgive it considering how much we got on the way. Check it out.

Barajou no Kiss is a manga that has everything I would like in a reverse harem manga. It is a perfect blend of (embarrassing) romantic scenes, comedy and with a fantasy element. But also featuring some darker themes. The main cast is great, with Anis and each knight bringing diverse characters into the story. The interactions among the characters are filled with witty banter and clever puns that made me smile throughout the story.

The art is absolutely gorgeous, met dramatic action scenes as well as panels with gorgeously drawn frilly clothes, roses and backgrounds.

However, the ending felt a bit weird to me. While the ... story was very enjoyable, the conclusion left me slightly disappointed as it felt rushed and out of character in relation to the rest of the chapters. Nevertheless I thoroughly enjoyed this manga and really recommend it!
