Synopsis

Yoshino Somei would have been a normal high-schooler if not for the fact that she is the granddaughter of the leader of the Osaka-based Somei Group, the Kansai region's largest yakuza organization. One day, Yoshino hurries home after hearing of the news about the unification of Kansai and Kanto's biggest syndicates, the Somei and the Miyama groups. This, according to the article, will result in a marriage of the leaders' grandchildren—one of whom is Yoshino herself! Despite her best efforts to annul the arrangement, Yoshino has to go to Tokyo to visit her fiancé, Kirishima Miyama, who is unexpectedly nice and charming.

During their first meeting, Yoshino is swept up in various events and becomes unable to refuse moving to Tokyo, which is why, half a year later, she now lives with the Miyama group. At school, she soon realizes that Kirishima is very popular, so her relationship with him garners the hate of his fangirls and subsequently results in bullying. To make matters worse, Kirishima could not be further away from her prince charming since he, after all, was born to be a yakuza member.

Raise wa Tanin ga Ii follows Yoshino and her new life in Tokyo that is filled with nothing but troubles connected to the underworld. However, though she wishes to be as far from it as possible, this isn't Yoshino's first time dealing with the world of the Yakuza...

i really enjoyed this manga! it's still ongoing, but i randomly stumbled across it on pinterest, and then binged the entire series in a day. i love the crazy dynamic between the female lead and the male lead, and the yandere qualities he has. also the action is cool and all, but it's so cute seeing the slice of life moments of the two main characters or the differences between them because one is from osaka and one is from tokyo. also, i like this one much more than firefly wedding, which i think is a similar manga, but this one has more meat and ...

Mixed Feelings

So so so...how am I gonna do this review ... I'll be honest I don't know BUT still I wanted to give my impression on this Manga.

What I noticed after I finished the last uploaded chapter ~ 38 (my favorite one ehehe) ~ is, for this manga to be enjoyed you need to take your time and maybe pauses. This Manga is full of action - not in the sense of the genre despite a lot of fight sequences - but rather, there's happening so much rapidly in a row, it is very easy to accidently skip some pivotal points, to get so confused ... that then the Manga seems less enjoyable as whole. To not let this happen I again recommend to slowly read and observe the Manga. Because it ain't a good-feel Slice of Life or an easy show with simple matters. What also leads into my advice to be slow on the Art Style, thus very rich on detail, but sharp and clean enough to perceive it good when payed attention to.

That aside; for me this Manga is again "a Manga that has potential in its story/lore, characters and so on, but I didn't know exactly how to do it the right-right way" (I love Yakuza, Psychological and Romance as a side thing) (there are some very interesting characters to me .. except the female protagonist xD).
The story tries to be and present something and a lot of times the Mangaka did a great job. Still some chapters and moments felt unnecessary drawn out; through tedious back and forth chatter and speculations of the characters, whereas to my PERSONAL taste some parts and information just could've been presented easier, faster and more excitingly - !ouh I just found out by writing this!: yes, I feel like the manga missed suspension on parts that probably should have been more exciting. (Or it just is my personal taste after all xD)

Now I know this is totally contradictional to the above statement of mine. But exact these two contradicting occurrences got me so confused and irritated about weither I like the Manga or not, also because I love the "genres" and some of their potential wasn't portrait as I wish. So:
- All this stuff: Story/Lore/Telling + Dynamic (I don't know how you call all this professionally)
= 6/10 ...(￣▽￣)...

From another point of view: I think this manga is very beautiful drawn. Props to the Mangaka, really! The art style quickly developed into an incredibly aesthetical piece of art to me. (I saved some good shots of this Manga for inspiration ;) I even liked the art style from the beginning and had the impression a few times that the drawing style was somewhere similar to Komi Can't Communicate. :D
- For the Art Style definitely:
= 9/10 , especially for the recently uploaded chapters (´｡• ω •｡`) ♡

What also in a weird way fascinates me personally are the characters. Above all, most of the male characters (including the older ones), but also the female supporting characters, are refreshingly staged and have their unique, albeit a bit exaggerated, personalities. And that is nice.
When it comes to the female protagonist, I find her from chapter to chapter, more even from scene to scene likeable or absolutely annoying. Her personality doesn't seem stable as for a main character, she is rather one dimensional and has barely depth. Unfortunately I can only give her my sympathy for few moments and then again I simply don't like her behaviour over the course of the manga.
(Most of the time she is annoyed and gets pissed off over a lot of little things (that maybe should be funny but I don't feel it), and then suddenly she is portrayed as someone that should be seen as special...sometimes she does unusual stuff, but I guess in the Manga it is just not good presented enough that her character really hooks me.
