Another brilliant manga created by Shuuzou Oshimi, placing psychological aspects and realistic presentation on the highest place. It's an intriguing story about a toxic relationship between mother and son, unveiling everything related to it without any sugarcoating and focusing equally on both sides - the parent (overprotecting, but also abusive mother) and the child (victim).

What's more, with each next few chapters, we learn more about the characters featured in "Chi no Wadachi" (both the main and secondary ones), which allows us to understand better their motifs and personalities. All of that to get a broader perspective of those characters. All of that to allow ...

The art in this manga is amazing, the characters are unique but the story is where it starts to get interesting if you want to read a story of a complicated relationship between a mother and her child then this one's for you. Overall i enjoyed reading it can be quite interesting and funny and pretty tense all together. I have mixed feelings for this manga but i wouldn't say its bad nor good but i think that is its charm as a reader this can give you mix feelings all throughout the series but that feeling is what keeps you reading it ive seen ...

//I want to begin this review by saying this manga doesn't have enough reviews.
I've read 74 of the current chapters of manga. To be honest i'm actually a bit dissapointed overall. Now i enjoy thriller like manga/anime but this is a bit different.

Now i don't want to write much about the plot because there is synopsis, but if you like dark, psychological and a bit of a slow story this just might be for you. I'm not good at writing reviews but overall it's worth reading. The chapters are quick to read and the story will keep you interested. The manga has good suspense, ...

This is possibly one of the most disturbing things I've ever read. That's the whole point, and it is not for the faint of heart, but I enjoyed majority of my time with this manga.

However, there was a sequence around chapter 80 that stopped my enjoyment, and everything just kind of fell apart with the story and it didn't feel consistent anymore. Like I feel like the author was dragging certain plot points out for the hell of it and it all could have been executed so much better and condensed down I think. And some of the stuff that happened kind of felt ...

Story:10
Well what can i say usually people can write story's like that either by having very open and colorful imagination or they experienced it first hand. You may see here real trauma, drama and life if I may say so, if you think that this story is solely a fiction then please do continue to live in your safety bubble thinking about your friends and family members as sane members of society (like uniform society where everyone is good and cool).
Here you can see a story about a father workaholic (norm in Japan) or ...

Before i started to read this manga i was kinda sceptical, because i prefer more ecchi manga and cute girls. But honestly since i read 2 first chapters i couldn't get my eyes off from it. The storyline together with masterpiece art (even not exactly what i prefer) was (still is, because manga is still releasing) breath-taking. Characters are perfectly described, mommy is lunatic, but hidden behind the wall of "mother-love, taking care of his son and love at all", but behind all of this, there something very worrying and her behave is so far beyond how true mother should behave to her son. For ...

I just finished Chi no Widachi and if I was a much more emotional person I would’ve been crying right now, however the story is still super messed up in the best way possible. I always liked Oshimi Shuuzou’s stories and this is definetly one of his staple works! The story is really good at feeling “lively” like most of the events could realistically happen, and the illustrations are really good at giving the story a very uneasy vibe. The only criticism I have is that the ending was a lot more bleak than I was hoping, but I guess the ending we got is ...

Amazingly portrayed manipulation, great visuals, great characters. One of the best horrors i’ve ever read, probably the most terrifying manga, as there was no unnecessarily unrealistic murder scenes, the story was believable, lifelike, that's what made it so scary. It was a massive rollercoaster of emotions, at no point of the story could i fully predict what would happen next.

The ending was awesome, very fitting but it did leave me a bit unsatisfied.
If u enjoy psychological mangas, i assure u A Trail Of Blood will be in your top 3 as soon as u read it. Good luck guys

Blood on the Tracks skillfully captures the quietly terrifying, poisonous dynamics of psychological manipulation with haunting effectiveness. Chilling portrayals of grounded emotional abuse and its consequences evolve into visceral nightmares or blissful ecstasy as reality often warps in powerful dreamlike sequences through the protagonist's scarred mind, exploring the tragic ways in which trauma and abuse ripple and morph from one generation to the next. This great atmosphere progressively loses most of its impact, however: author Oshimi Shuzo is seemingly scared of losing the reader's attention as the plot quickly moves from one disturbing thrill to the next, rarely letting characters breathe or taking the time ...

I don't wanna me a long review but get to the points straight.

It is not the best horror manga you will see, but it has something I have never seen before, the author resembles a topic that often is not good touched in a good made psychological horror story.

Seiichi not ony has PTSD (we see many signs and symptoms of this all around the story in a pretty acurrate way,
symptoms of intrusion, hyperarousal, avoidance and also depression are earsily recognized). Plus, we also can notice disorganized attachment and avoidant coping signs derived from constant dissociation derived by trauma. You see how PTSD from ...

Overall rating: 6.5/10 ⭐
Chi no Wadachi, or Blood on the Tracks, is a story that's honestly left me perplexed. When it came out, it was a solid 8/10 manga which I read regularly given how intriguing each chapter ended up being. However, over time I feel the story lost meaning and the pacing was not good enough especially considering the stellar start it had.

Story: 4.5/10
While the initial premise, and execution of the first 50-60 chapters was excellent, I felt the mangaka couldn't keep up the same consistency with the story-telling which made me eventually lose interest from chapter 100 or so. Having known (or not) ...

This is a hard story to read to the end, whenever this review is read after the manga is completed or not, it's trully challenging. I have binge read it on 5 days, and knowing how the story is shaping towards the end I can only assume this is gonna remain as another masterpiece of the genre by master Oshimi. This being said... Fk you Oshimi Shuuzou! fk you fk you, I love the way this manga depicts what it does and its topics but I fkn hate the pain you put into the protagonist and how its shaping him to be miserable forever and ...

Chi no Wadachi delves into the chilling horror of manipulation—a theme profoundly expressed and eerily familiar to many. The manga artfully explores these sinister dynamics, turning the conventional understanding of horror on its head. As the narrative unfolds, it thrusts the reader into an inescapable nightmare, akin to the cycle of manipulation that entraps its characters. This vivid portrayal not only heightens the sense of entrapment but also blurs the line between reality and deception, leaving readers as disoriented as the characters being manipulated.

The thematic journey through manipulation is poignant and resonant, allowing the reader to persevere through the manga's occasionally sluggish moments. The narrative's ...

If you're looking for a kind of story that features heavy themes of phycological horror and suspense then this would be a good read. I would say that this story portrays the aspects of emotionally / mentally abusive relationships well. Especially from the point of view of a younger person, like the main character, who might not fully understand. Combined with the feeling of being trapped. Making it the realist kind of horror out there that many can relate to.

I also think the art style compliments well to give the eeriness that this mother is portraying in certain scenes. As well as showing what ...

A short review for now, but somehow, I managed to read 83 chapters in 2 hours. The chapters are quite short, but the story itself is very serious. The art style is very pleasing to look at. I believe most of the colored pages are watercolor, so perhaps the whole manga was scanned/made traditionally.

About the plot...
It's insane. A mentally unstable mother. A mentally unstable son. A mentally unstable girlfriend. Mommy is a compulsive liar. Her baby boy got some sort of disorder. And his girlfriend is really just crazy to some extent. Throughout the series, I was able to see these quite clearly with ...

This is the single most unsettling manga I've ever read. All 75 chapters had me tense and bristling with raw anxiety. The characters are realistic but alien, the plot is a nightmare realized, and the art works wonders at imparting a feeling of subtle dread, and the impression that something is always just a bit off. To be frank, I'm not even sure I can say I enjoyed Chi no Wadachi, but what I can say is that for a work of art to elicit such a visceral response speaks to its quality. This manga will make you very afraid of the subtle, horrific emotional ...

Animals, like newborn giraffe calves, are able to clamber upright and walk around on their own within hours of birth. Human babies, however, are a different story. For the first two months of life, they can't lift their heads without help.

Human babies are helpless more so than any other animal, and this series perfectly exploits the psyche of a child.

You know in horror movies where it's common sensical to "not go alone/in there" but the main characters keep making dumb decisions anyways?

In this series, despite the main character making "dumb decisions", we can sort of empathize with him. It puts us in the ...

WARNING: MINOR SPOILERS

[Intro] This is my first review but whatever. I’ve recently caught up to the most recent chapter of Chi no Wadachi and I felt the need to write a review of this amazing manga.

[ Story / plot - 9 ] Let’s start off with the story. Put simply, it’s one big mind-fuck for the protagonist, Seiichi, that just keeps getting worse as his love for his abusive mother grows stronger. Not because he genuinely loves her, it’s because she has made him feel the need to ‘protect her’ by his company.

His mother, who thinks that only she deserves Seiichi, forcibly shuns ...

Story: 9
Chi No Wadachi, or A Trail of Blood, is a harrowing psychological thriller about the twisted relationship between a mother and her son that will keep you binging one chapter after another. One of the main things that makes this manga so electrifying is how much thought the author put into the story. Everyday events act as signals for character development (pay attention to what Seiichi eats for breakfast each day) and the plot twists and turns are very carefully laid out and revealed in astonishing ways. And it's because of the ability of the mangaka to make each scene so scary that the ...

Chi no Wadachi (Trail of blood) may be one of the best modern japanese horror stories, and for sure is one of the best artistic manga out there.
Story follows Seiichi Osabe, that on one day sees his overprotactive mother trying to murder his cousing. She denies that she had tried to kill him and boy falls into coma, leaving Seiichi wandering if what he saw was even true, and if it was - why would his kind mother do such a thing?
From this point on series focuses mostly on intricate reliation between son and his mother, filled with manipulation, lies, drama and.. terror. Shuuzou Oshimi ...
