Synopsis

Fourteen-year-old Iruma Suzuki has the worst luck possible! Incapable of saying no to anyone, he has always performed whatever life-threatening jobs his greedy and lazy parents requested. His life takes an unexpected turn when they form a contract with Sullivan, a high-ranking demon, at the cost of his soul. Afraid and confused, Iruma is surprised that all Sullivan wants is to act as his grandfather.

Sullivan takes care of Iruma and decides to enroll him in the demon school Babyls. Iruma's greatest challenge is hiding his status as a human, so keeping a low profile among his peers is the only option. However, Iruma will soon discover that he is no ordinary human, and the demons might also be more than what meets the eye.

A truly unique story in its own way.

Filled with incredibly charming characters, each with their own well-written and humorous development. For anyone who enjoys a good story with clever twists, delivered in a dynamic and comedic way, Mairimashita is a no-brainer recommendation.

What stands out the most is how well it develops its huge cast of characters. It’s genuinely surprising, considering how many relevant characters are introduced over time. Yet each of them has their own quirks, making the world feel vast and richly detailed. Ok so I began watching Iruma kun as an anime back when it first aired but I then immediately moved onto the manga. I really enjoyed the gang being up to no good and seeing Iruma progress to being the "demon lord" that Sullivan wanted him to be as his "grandson". I really liked a lot of the characters surrounding Iruma like I didnt actually mind at first having a lot of them because they really blended the story well and I always got a chuckle from every chapter as it can be seriously funny. There are no negative reviews on this series and only 2/17 are mixed feelings, so let me be the first one to recommend SKIPPING this series.

I LOVED this series. Past tense. Now I’m frustrated with where it’s going. I watched the anime when it first came out and I have huge respect for the scanlation team for catching up considering how far behind we were. The official English translation is about 30 volumes behind. I have physical volumes of this series, but quite frankly have become disillusioned with the series as it has gone on.
