this is a beautiful work.

its world and its characters very well worked.i love their characters, they are very cute and small. my favorites are akira,shiki and yui, as they have excellent personality and story work. all his story arcs are good, but thre are 2 that i especially adore so much because they are the best i read in a shonen manga.

her art can sometimes be so regular, but most all the time its very cute and cuddly.

in conclusion, it is very cute, very enjoyable, and with assured quality, i look forward to the animated adaptation.

8/10 in all the aspects.

tldr for those who don't want to read the rest; very enjoyable, but tackles dark topics. does get nsfw a little, and touches upon noncon (i don't want to talk too much abt it) so if that's not your thing, you might not want to read. but very enjoyable. i highly recommend it.

kemono jihen is insanely good, which makes me wonder why it's not more well known. the story is gripping, and you best believe that and the characters made me cry at multiple times. the art is very good, and my enjoyment skyrocketed. it made me forget why i went to read it (bc ... i was depressed) and the only complaint i have is that 20 chapters is too short and i am now depressed again.

the darker, tragic bits of it only add to the overall emotional aspect. and there is a little bit of straight romance teased, but nothing completely concrete. character backstories are a bit like kimetsu no yaiba, since...well, you'll understand.

the character themselves are very fun, and each have unique designs that help me recognize them. kabane is a fun main character, and unlike most shounens i read, i don't hate him. the others are all very likeable as well, and if not likeable they're striking. i like them as characters, but some i wouldn't like as people.

also, i've always loved supernatural elements, especially urban fantasy. kemono jihen does some great urban fantasy, and i love all the supernatural "kemono" presented. (mihai is my fav!)

Kabane is a ghoul who gains the desire to find his origins after Kohachi visits his village and exterminates the issues plaguing it. From there he is transported to Tokyo where he is introduced to his companions for the rest of the journey Akira and Shiki. We also meet Kon and Yoko during this process. From here we get the main cast members of the manga.

The basic premise is that there is a corpse of an incredibly powerful ghoul that had multiple clans infuse their powers upon it and then it got dismembered with each of its body parts embodying the power of each ... respective monster's clan. Kabane has one such piece and is currently trying to assemble it with his friends Akira and Shiki.

The issue I have with the manga is that it feels very plot hole heavy, x character forgets an entire event, Kohachi is a detective yet unable to do basic background checks on his employees, and Yoko basically given free rein to do whatever she pleases with no consequences whatsoever even when supposedly the fox clan and the raccoon clan are supposedly in check with one another makes me question a large portion of this manga.

There are amazing arc points in this manga that will make you desire the triumph of the characters, but there are others where you wonder why this was included at all other than comedic relief. The art is very satisfying to look at but the plot points feel very weak or not really thought of with the future set in mind. Its almost like there is no drive in this manga is what I feel in this manga in a way, I don't mean that the author isn't trying it just feels like the goal of meeting Kabane's ancestor feels lackluster in a way.

Kemono jihen is one of the most underrated shounen. THe story is pretty different with some common troupes but overall its an amazing read. Initially it begins as a simple case solving series of a abadoned shaman boy but it slowly develops into a pretty well established series with an engaging plot and good characters. The author is not afraid to show some really sensitive stuff which makes it even more engaging however its light hearted enough to feel as a shounen(even though sometimes it doesnt give that vibe).

The build up and everything for the fight scenes is great to say the least. With ... ideal length and proper buildup(so it doesnt feel forced)they become engaging and interesting in contrast to typical ways in which action scenes are handeled. The power system is pretty unique if we take individual abilities into account And the comedy is pretty welldone as well.
However what really makes it a great shounen after all these factors are the characters. Quirky, developed and amusing at the same time.
So far i have loved almost everything about it. Its Not a Masterpiece or isnt something that u would call ground breaking as well but it is pretty welldone at what it does and honestly if this series was published in shounen jump, it would have been huge without a doubt.
(on a side note its much better then famous battle shounen series these days)

The quick way to find out if you're gonna like the series is to watch the first ep. of the anime, but to summarize in a few points and disclaimers:

You might like it, if:
- you like shounen series that get dark, quickly, but don't dwell on it for long
- you like a bit of dark comedy and body horror
- look for a story where the MC isn't the typical resolute and optimistic moralist, but has a much more stoic, yet empathetic... "lawful neutral" feel in DnD terms
- you like stories with ambiguous allegiances (thanks to one character in particular).

You might dislike, if:
- you don't like ... toilet humour and crude jokes
- you don't like characters which are supposed to be charmingly stupid (most of the cast)
- if you've read too many shounen series to care about another "collect the things and defeat the bad person" story
- if you're looking something with a deeper story than your average shounen. The darker parts of the story are still just entertainment and not "food for thought." At least in my opinion.

I fully caught up on the Kemono Jihen manga after watching the anime. The manga's storytelling is solid throughout and fluid, and the art is above average. It's dark, uplifting, and fun to read all at the same time, and I hope that the manga continues to get adapted into anime.

Kabane, Shiki, Akira, and Kon I think will go down as one of the best group of characters created ever in the world of anime/manga. There's just so much for them to learn and grow. Reminds me a lot of Gon, Killua, Kurapika, and Leorio from HxH.

Kemono Jihen is one of those ... stories that is so human and entertaining that you read it before bed, and you can't help but feel fortunate to be alive right now.

The only thing that surprised me is the l o n g last name of Akira´s brother,
Yui Iwakiyamayukisatoshironanogojuutokushi.

That was all i had to say, if you need more reasons to read this manga i will tell you some more, when theyre scared they ball his eyes almost out and they sweat a lot, when a character is pretty serious and doesnt talk that much they make big buff eyebrows, like Yui and Kabane.

More, mostly of the characters that look like womans are men, like Akira and Hii, one of the villains attacks is farting :D
