What's up with the decline in love for the series?

I'm caught up and I know the pacing is kinda slow, but the content seems about whats expected. It'll be much more enjoyable to read in bulk once it's all out. And I know Kaiju No. 8 is pretty standard and generic, but I really like it.

The anime season 1 was pretty well paced and received, are people afraid season 2 will be slow? I don't understand the decline in love for the series, its still pretty popular but I rarely hear people bring it up in discussions

There's space for other three seasons, plus the spin off.
By the way, I didn't feel any decrease in the interest of people, it's just that two, maybe three, chapters a month make the series shine a little.

In my opinion it's not a decrease in popularity, the anime was pretty decent. I think the manga is forgettable once you catch up to it.

It's probably just the fact that the chapters are so dragged out, and their release dates are so spread out.

My problem with the manga is that I really liked the character interactions, but once the big fight with No. 9 starts, it goes on, and on, and on for ages. It got kinda boring for me for a while because it felt like nothing new was happening, and I even stopped collecting the volumes because I realised I might not care enough to re-read the series. Thankfully, the series has gotten much better since around the time the anime came out, but it's still dragging on quite a bit.

a block of chapters in 2024 were big nothing burgers and that’s an issue when the release dates are so spread out

I had a lot more fun with this series when I was binge reading it. Bi-weekly releases with little to no progression is excruciating. The anime helped boost this series a lot, it's the only reason that I checked it out. The last 4 chapters (currently chapter 121) have not added anything new or progressed the plot in any meaningful way.

Its just carried by hype, thats all it has. Neither characters, nor story, nor motives are particulary good. And personally, the manga just draaaaaags thr ending out way too long.
