| Monogatari and One Piece are the ones that immediately come to my mind. Monogatari — It doesn't have a lot of characters, but most of them get their focus by having arcs that are dedicated to them, sometimes even at the cost of putting the MC Araragi on the sidelines. Even characters who don't get such treatments, such as Gaen Izuko or Oshino Meme, have a unique design and personality that might capture someone's heart. One Piece — Unlike Monogatari One Piece offers a huge cast of characters, yet Oda-sensei still manages to give a spotlight many times in the form of a backstory, which gives them depth and motivations for their actions, making the reader sympathize with them. When it comes to the main cast, the Strawhats, Oda-sensei doesn't stop at just giving them a backstory but continues to give them shine in each new arc. Such qualities—a diverse and lovable cast—are a core reason of why I have the 2 shows in my favorites. |
