If the world is back at how it used to be, lelouch's achievement makes no sense anymore. This anime SHOULD be taking place atleast a few decades after the events of code geass. But still, I don't think it's gonna be a really good show. What are your thoughts about it?

Just because one conflict ended, it doesn't mean a new conflict can't appear. Like after WW2, the "start" of the cold war was pretty close.
In CG's universe, I think they wanted it as "the global conflict ended, but there are some small conflicts".

Yeah if we use the logic of real life, there’s no reason that more conflicts wouldn’t be happening.

I’m absolutely fine with a sequel if it ends up both being quality and making logical sense

Lelouch reformed Britannia and practically neutralised its threat, which was a huge step towards peace. And most importantly, he gave everyone from different factions (Japan, China, Britannia, etc) the chance to actually sit together and try solving the issues by talking them out instead of fighting.

So he absolutely did achieve a lot, but of course there wouldn't just be everlasting peace for the remainder of human history. That would be unrealistic and unbelievable. I'm totally fine with there being other conflicts after Lelouch's death, especially since this anime is set almost a decade later.

I'm not a fan of Lelouch himself being alive though, I think that's what really lessens the impact of the ending. It also kinda fucks over Suzaku, who is the only one who has to keep his end of the bargain (being forced to live with his guilt and wear a mask).

So as long as this anime lets me believe that Lelouch is still dead unlike that stupid movies' timeline, I'm happy with it.

Well put, lelouchs achievement makes perfect sense. It ended world war and britannian conquest and domination over the world, the Op is wrong too because the world didn’t just go back to how it was it’s only an area or Japan while rest of britannia which is the majority are still in unity with the rest of the world, thus u see britannians tryna help Japan against Neo britannia.

No, any continuation after Lelouch's death hurts the integrity of Code Geass.

@Zarutaku I disagree, I think they need to do something with the series to make up for that lackluster ending.

There can still be ways to writes a post Lelouch's death story, maybe delve more into Geass side of the world than politics/mecha side could be one way for example

Only that the way Roze was written disregard Lelouch legacy

I don't think there's any harm in it as long as they aren't focusing on Lelouch anymore. He's a great character, but his story ended twice now. He doesn't need to be the protagonist anymore.

The "no Lelouch no watch" crowd are obviously allowed to have their opinion, but I heavily disagree. If there has to be more Code Geass, focus should be put on new stories with new characters in the same world (or even other alternate worlds), which is what this show is doing. Newer Universal Century Gundam entries don't continue to use Amuro as the protagonist. They could, but his story came to an end in Char's Counterattack. A lot of the best Gundam stories don't feature Amuro at all. So if they are going to try to turn Code Geass into a franchise like they seem like they want to do, Lelouch just can't be used as a central character anymore.

And the lack of Lelouch doesn't automatically make the story bad. Rozé isn't perfect, but it's been entertaining and engaging enough so far. If anything, this show would probably be a lot worse if Lelouch was a protagonist. It wouldn't make any sense, and it'd just piss off people who (rightfully) think he shouldn't be a focus point anymore since, you know, his story ended twice in two different continuities.

The ogs ending is not lacking its actually amazing plus this series is based on the trilogy movie which is a alternative timeline which is the resurrection movie based from too so the original timeline will be not tarnished

@dxtremecaliber Doesn't matter if it's alternate, after R2 anything released under the name Code Geass hurts the integrity of the franchise as a whole.
Instead of keeping it at an efficient 50 episodes total and a deeply memorable ending, they just further blowed it up with alternate stories for the milk.
Everyone who now watches Code Geass will not feel any continued void after his death, because they just continue watching the Fukkatsu movie after R2.
Long term success ruined due to greed for short term profit, a disappointing lack of foresight.

CG is one of the few series that I don't mind more spinoffs. So it's less "need" and more "why not" imo
