i think anyone that knew how the cr awards work, knew vinland saga wasnt going to win any awards. As soon as i saw the aoty nominations i knew jjk was going to win. Cuz it has the biggest fandom and ppl just vote for their fav show. More than the lack of awards, im more interested in seeing if it gets a s3.

People need to stop pretending as if CR awards amount to anything but popularity contest. Demon Slayer winning "Best Fantasy" last year should be an eye opener. And it comes from Demon Slayer fanboi.
As @Tiosar stated those reweards are as relevant as Oscars, but to Oscars' credit they are already upfront, that they do not prioritise quality.

SnK and KnY have a bigger fandom than Cyberpunk and yet, Cyberpunk won last year.

In the case of Vinland Saga, it is more like how the story progressed. Narrative-wise it changed a lot between the 2 seasons. S1 was obviously for battle shounen fans, but battle shounen fans wouldn't like a slower, drama oriented S2. While someone who is interested in drama mainly, wouldn't really watch S1. That's why it is lost in every category.

For example, I did not vote for Vinland Saga in any category, but it is also true for JJK, I didn't vote for him, because there were better options.

This is to be expected, Vinland Saga is no where near as popular and doesn’t have mainstream appeal like Jjk, Demon Slayer, AoT, or One Piece does. Recency bias has a play in it as well. We gotta learn to not take these “awards” seriously already.

I can. What category did you think it should win? Cause honestly I can’t think of one. This season of Vinland saga and was extremely overhyped on all social media platforms. This is coming from me, someone who absolutely loved season 2. But if we are being honest it didn’t deserve to win a reward

Half of the show has bad animation. The fanbase may be willing to look past that, awards voters are not. And there’s no categories for writing, so it didn’t have anything it could reasonably win.

Coming from someone who gave this part of the manga a 10, this didn’t deserve a single nomination, obviously it didn’t notch any wins.

Well, jjk s2 is the most popular, if you look by members highest number of members in 2023 is jjk.
So it obviously is the most popular show of 2023, isn't that what cr award means anyway?
Btw, second most popular was demon slayer, so if jjk would not have aired this year, demon slayer would of won probably

Whenever it says best in the award title, since fans are voting, just read it as most mainstream anime of 2023

Overhyped, excuse me?!! If something is overhyped then it's JJK S2, VS is less known to anime fans as much as it should. A well written story with well written characters, not BS power system or plot armour based characters.

yeah true I was sad about it. but 'We' I don't think is good word to use. as we know this year the award has total 34M votes but still VS like big 3 manga's pure gold adaptation didn't get any is really sad.

Imo most of the voters are youngsters(new to anime)who have watched or used to watch modern anime with high paced story and action maybe they can't fit in VS like slow paced story. I don't remember but I think last year VS had won a award maybe bcuz it has some good battle. even I was like this 6-7 years back when I started watching anime and when I watched Demon slayer 1st time in 2020 I was like f*** that's it nothing can be better than this,during that time i dropped naruto 2-3 time in beginning bcuz of animation and start was very boring but still I believe what most people was saying and finally I watched it which changed my test & perspective of anime
well it's my thoughts u can share what you think about VS not having any award.

Wait, I didn’t even realize only that arc was eligible this year. If we’re judging purely based on quality, that arc absolutely sweeps the awards. It might be the best of all time.

It doesn’t feel great putting 12-24 episode shows up against 5 episode shows though, it’s much easier to perfect 2 hours of animation than 5 hours.

That’s more a problem with how Crunchyroll determines eligibility than with their actual selections though.

I wouldn’t have a problem with Vinland Saga S2 winning a “best adapted script” award over all the other anime this year, but no such category exists.

Not disputing that the Crunchyroll Awards suck, just saying Vinland Saga doesn’t deserve any wins. It isn’t even top 3 in any category.

Or in the very first awards in 2016, when they funneled almost all awards to Yuri on Ice because it was gay.

You can still enjoy a Show beeing "deep", without putting down other Shows, in the process. Nobody really cares that you prefer profound story telling over hot Anime girls, you know :)
Vinland Saga got enough recognition, even without you demanding more attention for it - don't worry.

Also, nobody's dumb enough to say showing hot girls is better than a story which talks about War, Slavery, Humanity & peace.

It's not which theme you're presenting but how you're presenting it.
One piece also shows the similar themes but Vinland Saga does it 10x better.
Which is why it is loved by so many adults over trashy fanservice/non stop action/generic isekai.
