"I mean if someone is fat for example does calling them a pig result in them losing weight?"

I feel like the premise of bullying being good carries an unspoken implication that a huge plurality of people is never very good at nuance or moderation. Which is true. So between two extremes (e.g. "bully fatties" vs. "encourage obesity by calling 400 lb women healthy and stunning"), it's better to tend toward the extreme that produces healthier results. With that said, people as individuals can practice nuance, and somebody's who's incredibly obese should be rewarded for trying to exercise or better themselves.
Unfortunately though a lot of the people under the banner of "body positivity," "inclusivity," etc. are just insanely dysgenic people and want to encourage/reward lack of health.

@OfficerPoon: I agree with you entirely that people often lack nuance and there is a definite desire to see things in black and white terms. Going to your example of the body "positivity" movement while on a surface level it sounds very positive, I do feel that on the deeper level it is quite negative. Beneath the veneer that any body shape is good message is the underlying message that your body shape is something that just happens and is like an act of God/fate that you cannot change hence you must accept yourself.

I can see the appeal of this dialogue as this narrative allows people to deflect responsibility for their body size. However, the flip side to taking responsibility is the fact you can take control and we have the power to change ourselves if we work consistently hard. Our life is not in the hands of fate, and we can make a difference. This type of message is what is lost on those people. What really needs to be done is shift this idea that being thin makes you a morally good or better person. It does not (at least I don't notice thinner people having better moral standards). Losing weight should be seen as a health quality of life issue. If you respect yourself then you will treat your body with respect and not feed it rubbish all the time. That to me is what body positivity should be about. I realise I am probably preaching to the choir but felt this needed to be said...

I love the implication in the OP that bullying somehow ended even though it's still prevalent in society, especially in schools. I'm also amused by the implication that if people are bullied, they'd suddenly change their ways, when more likely than not it would cause them psychological damage and make things even worse. Do we really need more Chris Chans in the world?

Usually the people who encourage this type of behavior are the ones with the weakest of mindsets. Often times because they tend to be the exact losers that get picked on and look for someone else to take their frustrations out on.

@Early_Morning
Chris-Chan was never lightly bullied in his developmental years (which is where the "socially corrective" utility of bullying comes into play). If he was, he might be less aberrant today. Or he might not because he's clearly mentally ill, but then again, he's an outlier.
The "bullying" that Chris faces is legitimate gangstalking as an adult, which isn't what anyone means when they say bullying.

Ot: nah we just need to fix dysfunctional parenting, communication, structures, teaching, re-educate and lay the groundwork to make healthy growth, communication and interactions in children possible no matter their background and circumstances. And be good examples and not shy away from learning.

What you just said is bullying itself when you want someone to get crushed by a 16 ton weight because you didn't like what I said and because you don't like me. People bully people who they don't like for various reasons. Are you retarded?

I don't like bullies. I don't know why you think what I said has anything to do with you at all. The next post in a forum thread is not automatically in response to the previous post.

Also, wanting something to happen is a thought. It can never be bullying. Judging someone as deserving of something is not the same as wanting it to happen. Doing so with a comedy trope is unlikely to be 100% serious. And judging people because they hurt other people is not bullying, bullying targets the innocent.

People bully people who they don't like for various reasons.

All of them bad. There is no possible excuse for bullying.

When bullying & Bullies were a real thing the world was in much better place/much saner than it is now.

This coming from a guy that was bullied to Kingdom come back in the late 80's early 90's. For being "a stinking hom0" amongst other things.

At least back then all our SCOTUS knew what a woman was and weren't afraid to openly define in public what a woman is. And back then everyone knew that boys have a pen!s and girls have a v@gina.
@Dawizz Oh yeah, bullying is a good thing, sure. The thing that marked me forever since my childhood, caused me PTSD, made me suicidal for years and scarred me for life surely helped the world being a "much better place".

Seriously, this thread is full of shitlords who thinks they're the smartest people on the planet just because they "think differently". Saying controversial shit doesn't make you intelligent. Most of the time, it just makes you ridiculous.
If that's the best thing that can come out of your mouth, don't open it, please.

No, my stance over the matter is mostly neutral. I'm just pointing out the positive effects that hardly ever gets mentioned since bullying has gotten a very negative stigma. Far and away from your personal bias against weaboos.

@Ahegyao The feeling of insecurity means there is something wrong in my area. Just because I feel bad does not mean I am weak. It is actually a sign of strength to dissipate the feeling of being insecure by destroying or punishing something that is wrong.

Unless you're trying to project your own insecurity into this, it isn't about you. It's about them and their hyper fixation on Japan. It's strange, but it's not necessarily "wrong."

@Ahegyao One of my friends got beat up by a Yakuza because he was acting like a weaboo. He beat him with a motorcycle helmet. He ended up in the hospital and he had to go back to America as a loser. He tried too hard to be cool. He is likely dead by now due to his stupid behavior.

@Dawizz Just because I was born in 03 doesn't mean I got a better treatment.
Sure, I genuinely think the bullying I and many of my classmates got wasn't the worst, since it never really harmed me in any way that wasn't about my mental health, but without it things would have been better for everyone.
Lack of self confidence and bullying made me kinda of a nuisance for my whole family during my teen years, and we would have saved lot of times, money and troubles if those kids didn't feel the need to treat others like shit.
I guess back in the days people even got it worse, but that doesn't mean one type of bullying is ok.

I get what you want to say - surely, when "og" bullying was a thing, people didn't brag about "woke" culture as they do today since most were too afraid to be considered ridicolous or were just trying to avoid gettint the spotlight even more. Even I think young teens nowadays tend to concentrate on stupid things, but we've all been stupid when we were kids, and I'd rather see them acting like idiots on TikToks than killing themselves because someone called them ugly or gay.

Also, I'd like to remember that we 03 are now 20, not 13.
