I loved the original too, and was worried about it messing with characters I had come to like, but it actually does it a justice imo. Almost just as good as Steins;Gate. It also tells a big part of the story that is completely glossed over.
It’s not entirely more of the same, and it doesn’t “top” it’s predecessor, but it is nonetheless a really great show and a welcome elaboration and continuation of the story.

Well it definitely doesn’t ruin it. Since Steins;Gate is my favorite anime SG0 is also freaking good and helped it become my #1. It’s of course mixed opinions but I loved this season for its own reasons. This season tbh is more sad but with a good tone to the series, it also fills in some gaps in the OG Steins;Gate

The right mindset when watching an anime is hoping that it will break your top 10

I personally enjoyed it. I think the last quarter is particularly good. I would say that the original season is overall more consistent, but 0 is still definitely worth watching, especially since (without giving spoilers) it gives more context behind why Okabe in the original season was able to reach steins gate.

It’s not as good as the original but it has some really good character development and by no means ruins a single aspect of the original. If anything, it makes the original even better.

This anime takes place on alternative timeline after episode 23 of the original, in which Okabe gives up on saving Kurisu after first failed attempt.
I'd say you should watch it if you are interested who was this alternate Okabe, who sent himself a message from the future, saying that he should keep trying.

For me it actually made me love the whole of Steins;Gate even more. I generally don't care what ppl say without watching myself and judging it accordingly, especially when the og series is a masterpiece :)

In my opinion it’s better than the original. Let’s you breathe and get closer to the character and have more emotional pull when shit goes down. It does everything you would want out of a sequel and more imo. Great Slice of life moments and just as great suspense/action/Sci-Fi moments

It's definitely worse than the OG, but I wouldn't say it ruins anything. This anime definitely stays in its lane and doesn't really change anything that happened in Steins;Gate proper

Firstly it doesn't ruin anything hopeless people just want some fluff, fanservice, MC getting Overpowered by the power of LOVE for his Girlfriend or something like that.

S;G0 is the explanation of Mayuri's slap and that video from future Okabe in episode 23 of S;G.

S;G0 is more of a character development story. But It will give you a complete outlook of the story either. So if you care about the story then you should definitely give it a try.

Honestly It will be as nerve-racking as the original one also a little sad but you should believe in the Great Hououin Kyouma he will make everything better in the end.

Before starting S;G0 you must have to watch Episode 23β .

this has an absolutely different taste and original one is better but you should watch this too also the movie is great too so I suggest you to watch both: Steins;Gate 0 and the movie

I found SG;0 to be as good as the original series. At least it complements it well I felt.

Better in some areas (soundtrack and slightly updated art, along with a couple of additional characters), though the overall feel is different to the original, making it a bit harder to watch ':/

I watched the various Steins;Gate seasons and episodes in chronological order and if anything, SG;0 helped me appreciate the original series and the specials, because of the different feel that it has.

I say watch it. I recommended this to a friend and, without spoiling too much, I would watch SG up to "the slap" (you'll know what I mean when you see it), immediately switch over to SG 0, watch til you see the slap again, and then switch back to finish SG episodes 24 and 25 I think.

Steins;Gate 0 to me is as good as the original. It's sort of a prequel and focuses more on the characters rather than the sci-fi aspects. It doesn't top the original but I loved it. You should definitely watch it.

IMHO Steins;Gate 0 is a piece of crap, just a crappy anime with a couple of good episodes here and there, definitely a downgrade compared to the OG.

Watch it but keep your expectations low.

No. Perhaps the experience is better if you watch it how it happens chronologically in the show (watch most of s1 then the alternate ep then steins gate 0 then the rest of s1) but for me who watched the first steins gate and then steins gate 0 it felt very unnecessary and boring. If you like the characters enough to see them doing some unnecessary stuff then ig watch it.

I watched it and the ending was kinda good/ok. But 0 Is in my opinion just fan service. I wasn’t quite sure if I was watching a harem series or a spin-off to Steinsgate.
I took the opinion of people way to serious and so my expectations were to high.

For me it was 5/10 and I wouldn’t watch it again.

Yes, after finishing Steins Gate, you should watch Steins Gate 0, it continues the plot just in a different order. My personal experience watching steins gate 0 was exciting. At first I thought Steins gate 0 was not needed, but then when I start watching Steins Gate 0, I fell in love with that series. Just all the action, emotional moments, suspense just adds up into a well done masterpiece.

But if you watch it after completing Steins;Gate it will definitely not ruin it.

SG0 explains the video Okarin watches in ep23, so it was already there when the plot was written. It's canon, it's awesome!

steins;gate is my favorite show and when i went to 0 i really loved it too i can understand why people may say it ruins there character for example okabe he acts completely different for most of the show but i think it’s definitely still worth watching both steins;gate and steins;gate 0 i found as a 10/10

Just quoting my friend. Thats how he phrased it and it worked. I don't see what the problem is as it makes sense to me chronologically. Mayuri was the guide at the fork in the road. Her action or inaction decided which path Okabe travels. If she did nothing, the SG0 timeline begins. And I obviously disagree. Why else would they include the part from SG in SG0 after Mayuri does her thing?
