Why does DBZ have such a low rating of "8.15"?

This is definitely a bait saying Dragon ball is the best you have watch is quite laughable when you have already mentioned better anime than dragon ball in your post.And minimum score should be 9.50 lol no one is gonna take you seriously.

Well, simple response: we all have different tastes, and we rate anime according too. Why call the ones who don't like the show haters without knowing?

I watched it twice, once when I was like 10, and again a few years ago (I'm 24 ATM). Well, it's a good anime, with nice action scenes, etc... but honestly, compared to other shows I watched, it has nothing special to me than the fact that it's one of the first for a lot of people, all generation.

Also, we don't all have the same criterias of notation.

when you rate an anime, you don't rate it with action being on top and harem being on bottom. You rate it for how good it is for what it is. For example Grand Blue is a comedy anime and it's a 10/10 for a comedy. Same goes for aot and fmab as they're best at what they are. Meanwhile among the big 3, not many people would say DB series is the best. Simply put, it's the deaths of the characters and the seriousness of the story for me that makes it bad. A character dies, wow how sad but look who's calling for you from the heaven and later he comes back alive. The villains die and they're like looking at goku's battles from hell. Wow so nice of them. The story just keeps dragging and now in the manga it's like a kid's cartoon and the animations for the upcoming movie is like a cartoon movie too, CGI all of it

Because maybe thats what it is for majority? No jokes if we keep nostalgia and all aside , i think 8 would be max rating for me , even tho i love it , i wont it rate it more than 8 , 8 would be max

For an entry exceeded 1 million members, 8.15 is pretty decent. There aren't much Anime that have the same number of users and get a higher score than DBZ.

Sure HxH might have been inspired by Dragon Ball as many shounen at that time were, but in terms of writing, themes, depth, characters, antagonists, storytelling etc hxh slams

And here I am wondering. On the site, what, small children sit just do not understand how gorgeous DB is and put it below "8"? But they rate pop harems, romance and everyday life at "10". LOL.
In my opinion, the minimum rating DBZ should be 9.50.

I'm pretty sure it's all down to preference, if you aren't a fan of the somewhat lazy shortcuts they take for allot of their fighting scenes it's not going to catch some people. The plot despite being a simple one at a base level is needlessly complicated, at least more so than it needs to be. Some people just like realistic stories, or romances or what have you but still might not like DBZ and give it their rating and opinions. This happens for all anime to some degree. Now mind you I'm playing devil's advocate here and I like Dragon ball on the whole but DBZ abridged simply proves that the original isn't perfect and that some things in it could have done better. 8.15 isn't that low it's like 1 point from the highest rated anime on the site and about 1.5 points from some of the lower scores I seen.

Because Dragonball is great but it has its flaws, I grew up watching the series and still love it today. its hard to compare shonen to things like harem, SOL, and romance because they’re incredibly different. Also to say Goku doesn’t have a set goal like Luffy or Gon is foolish, the mans set goal is to become the strongest fighter in the universe, its literally why we got an entire arc in DBS. Dragonball is a 10 in terms of influence and popularity, but as an actual series i think the 8-9 range is pretty fitting.

I don't see anything wrong with its rating. For an old battle shounen series such as this, it seems to have withstood the test of time. Even in a time like now when there's very vocal haters of shounen.

I also love dbz but with its popularity and certain “flaws” that people like to point out that I don’t really care abt Is what’s stopping it from getting a higher rating I think a rating of 8.20-8.40 is fine it’s a little underrated on mal not much u can do with such a popular and older series

I grew up with DBZ loved it so much, but it's unfair to say that other anime are not good or their protagonist is not interesting, Imo HxH is a far better then DBZ not cause of fight scenes, but for better story with human emotions. the story is much more complex even the villains are likeable characters.
and for One Piece it's one the best shonen.
the power system is more interesting.
and it's okay if you don't like other shonen anime but you don't have trash on to prove that DBZ is great.

DBZ realistically isn’t that good as an anime. The only reason it’s rated so high is because of nostalgia pretty much. It’s a 10 (for me) only because of that. If it was released now i honestly think it would be a mid 7 at best. Also, 11 days to watch all like 650 eps of the whole series. Bruh that shit took me 3 months and i was speed running a lot of it (for the maths fanatics, 650/90 days= 7.2 eps a day with no breaks i’m between those 3 months) and you watched 650/11= 59 eps) 59 eps a day is 19 hours a day. I highly doubt you watched dbz for 19 hours a day

9.5 is a bit too high maybe 8.4-8.7 feels right. For me it's 10.
I think Dragon ball has some of the best villains and fights in all of the anime, easily top 3 Shonen and Goku is by far best Shonen protagonist Dragon ball z > big 3.

First of all 8.15 is huge, basically means it's very good according to MAL ratings. So I would argue it deserves less because it's not even that good. It's mostly nostalgia speaking.

I have rated this anime 10/10 its simply my favourite but after thinking why people dislike it so much. Its because all the anime adaptations are complete garbage. In db and dbz the art style is pretty good but the pacing and animation isnt while dbs has pretty good animation at certain points but the art style is bad and overall story telling/characters have gotten worse. As I said before the biggest issue is definitely the pacing because most people just get bored.

I can't understand one thing. Why are these numbers so important to you?
Moreover, it is worth considering the fact that many children are sitting on this site. who do not have enough brains to understand DB and they scream right and left: "DB is garbage unfinished with a stupid script, non-developing characters and so on."
The ratings don't reflect the true coolness and quality of the anime, especially if you look at the ratings of Kimetsu No Yaoi or My Pico Academia, which have this number higher than DBZ, it becomes clear.

And yes. On this site, DBZ is not in the top 5 most popular anime for this simple reason:
The main fan base of the franchise does not sit on this site. It would be more accurate to say that they do not care about these numbers and ratings.
They are adults and they do not care about all this nonsense.
