Will Ousama Ranking be as popular (if not more) as Made in Abyss?

I kinda see a similarity between Ousama Ranking & Made in Abyss wherein both were initially overlooked in their respective seasons because of the childish art but caught everyone’s attention because of its amazing (& not-so-childish) content. I think I consider both anime as more of a sleeper hit than other popular shows since both didn’t really have much hype before airing.

I think it can as it may not rank very high in popularity but rating is just great I think that some good Otaku will give it a chance despite it's appearance.

Eh, Movie was as good as the first season, if not better. Bondrewd was such a great antagonist. Maybe it was too short for you to catch emotions.

It really depends, because with Made in Abyss, it was one of the few shows that had a spotlight within its airing season, unlike Ousama ranking whose being overshadowed by other shows like Mushoku Tensei, 86 and Takt op this season.

Honestly though I'm glad it's at least getting the recognition it deserves right now

Now you're spewing some bullshit right there. You have one of the best antagonists in anime, lots of really tough and powerful moments, and the story between Prushka and Bondrewd is really emotional. This film was not so much about raw emotions like some parts of the first season, it was more about getting us to know part of the lore, meeting Bondady, and getting Riko to continue in her journey.

Made in abyss had us in the three first episodes, this show... We still need to wait if it has anything going for it apart from the really great production and visuals. We haven't even reached half of the season, so I will wait to give a conclusion, but I'm getting tired of this "plot-turning points" that happen every episode.

Heh, both started as web manga as well. I don't know about overtaking MiA, but I'm just hoping for RoK to keep increasing in popularity.

MiA's appeal was that things get darker and darker the deeper you go into the Abyss. It keeps shocking you - somehow each layer / story part tops the previous one in intensity / brutality.

RoK is lighter and simpler, but has its own complexity, in the relationships between characters and their motivations.

One thing i can be sure of is that people will keep recommending RoK, and not only inside the 'anime' circles. So RoK's got that going for it.

I mean, we maybe just have different tastes, and that's perfectly normal don't worry. Don't get me wrong, I'm super into Ousama Ranking, really loving it so far, but this two aren't on the same category.

MiA is more of a exploration story, the main plot is just a mean to explore the abyss. Ousama Ranking is a classic hero's journey tale. They are meant for different tastes.

PD: regarding the fact that both started as web manga, I encourage you to check the difference in art quality for both web mangas.

I disagree with the movie portion but hey If Ousama Ranking does maintain its consistency,it'll be one of the best shows of the year.
