I like this guy on my avi more than myself, hence my usage of his magnificent visage. If it was a girl the same reason would apply. |

Men of today -- especially men into japanese cartoons -- identify less with their masculinity and identify more with cute girls who give their hearts warm, fluffy (feminine) feelings. Many men are also jaded with the state of the modern woman and cannot find themselves a successful love life, and so they project their love into an anime girl. Not all men who have anime girl profile pics are into it for escapist two-dimensional love, though; if a man has a gf and is in a "good" relationship, yet still has an anime girl profile pic, the first answer I gave is most likely correct: they don't strongly identify with their male identity and basically believe in female superiority. I used to be both of these things in my cringe teen years. I used to hold women on a very high pedestal, and I was also disappointed that modern women could not live up to those standards (as you might imagine, I wasn't exactly a cool guy in high school. Who knows why I liked Oregairu so much...). Eventually I grew out of both these things. Now, I realize that "bitches ain't shit", both in real life and in fiction. However I can still like female characters of course (one of my favorite anime is Clannad ffs -- a byproduct of my teen years perhaps, but my love for that anime is a whole 'nother topic). Pro tip: once you really embody the "women ain't shit" mentality, women respect you more in real life. So there's that I guess. TLDR: men have anime girl profile pics either because they are either simps or incels. Rarely is there a man with an anime bitch for a profile pic who breaks these two rules. Testosterone levels are lower since porn, hentai, and masterbation are more common nowadays. |

Most women do have bisexual tendencies even if they don't realize it, according to (((studies))). I believe it's true though. Still, the reason most women don't act on it is because their instinct to want a strong dominant man to provide for her is much stronger. Women see competent men and they are much more attracted to them than fertile, sexy women. Because biologically, women have not much to gain from finding other women attractive; in fact, other women are "breeding rivals". Why they would then still have bisexual tendencies, I don't know. Maybe it just helps to further the community if women are checking each other out and seeing which females are the most "fit" for reproduction. |

Why the fuck do you think there are so many social sciences that are researched if evopsych was all that was needed anyway? Holy shit you're insufferable. I agree to this. Also it's some basic requirement that my girlfriend got the "competence" of a normal adult and got some spine, since I'm her girlfriend and not her mom and a relationship is based on being on eye level with each other. Dominance doesn't have a place there. I always ask myself how some women keep up with the shit of their macho husbands, who can't cook, don't help with kids etc... they must feel like they got an extra child lol. But you know what, I'm not attracted to "successful" people, especially not if they flex with money and status symbols. These people usually just want to cover their lack of personality and lack of bond that you won't get with them. And I especially think that men, who try to flex with muscles and dominance are kinda laughable and some others are scary to be around them. Maybe I get together with a woman, because I love her and find her (sexually) attractive. And I love(d) my ex boyfriend too, at least platonically, because he's a good person and one of my best friends, but I don't know... that doesn't seem to count lol? And it seems to be impossible to adopt a kid in that world view. Back to topic: no, men aren't "emasculated", whatever that means, nor are women manly, just because they have profile pictures or like characters of the opposite gender. |

Auron_ said: Holy shit you're insufferable. Lol hey mods, is it ok for someone to talk to me like this? If so, then it's alright if I hit back, right? Sigh. Auron_ said: For the love of god, please stop trying to explain away everything through evolutionary psychology. So man is not a byproduct of evolution? Man is not an animal influenced by his biology? That's news to me. Maybe the Creationists are right after all. It's like this is the only fucking discipline that you guys believe is not a (((Jewish conspiracy))) and you guys run with it every step of the way, Because we know that psychology is strongly linked to biology. but you cannot adequately explain the behavior of humans that way anymore. There are things like culture, and technology, and moral contemplation, and forming of societies. Culture is formed by communities of people. People are byproducts of their biology. I do believe in free will, but most men and women are driven more by instinct than by logic. Yeah, people can break free from their animalistic nature but it's hard and uncommon to do so in a major way. So many people don't even engage in child-rearing. So according to you, because some people refuse to have children, their sex drive is not an evolutionary characteristic? Of course it still is. Our 'lizard brains' still want to have sex because sex naturally makes babies. That's why it feels good -- it's an incentive to procreate. Why the fuck do you think there are so many social sciences that are researched if evopsych was all that was needed anyway? Humans are biological beings, formed and shaped by our biology. Society was formed by humans. Therefore social sciences and evolutionary biology are linked. _Maneki-Neko_ said: Also it's some basic requirement that my girlfriend got the "competence" of a normal adult and got some spine, Irrelevant and only further helps my point. You want an adult woman because she's more fit for reproduction. (EDIT: well apparently not lmao you're a lesbian, it seems. Biological dead end) since I'm her girlfriend and not her mom and a relationship is based on being on eye level with each other. Dominance doesn't have a place there. Lol so wait, you're her "girlfriend"? Well if that's not a typo then that changes a lot. I always ask myself how some women keep up with the shit of their macho husbands, who can't cook, don't help with kids etc... they must feel like they got an extra child lol. A child who pays her rent and works a full time job, right? Maybe I get together with a woman, because I love her and find her (sexually) attractive. Oh boy. Curious, how long have you been together? Back to topic: no, men aren't "emasculated", whatever that means, nor are women manly, just because they have profile pictures or like characters of the opposite gender. I disagree. I think it's pretty feminine to have a cute anime girl profile pic. Then again what's "masculine" and what's "feminine" have been largely bastardized in the western world. Does posting to MAL forums hold the same standard as writing a scientific thesis? I don't give a rat's ass if you believe what I say. At this point I simply want to know what it is you object to. Until then I couldn't provide a citation even if I wanted to. But if you refuse to extrapolate then our conversation is over. EDIT: LOL all this time I used the word "extrapolate" wrong. I could have sworn it was synonymous to "explain" or "expand on", or close to it. To fix my sentence: if you refuse to explain what it is I said that bothered you enough to want to troll me, then our conversation is over. |

Fine I'll give one. You objected to the "women want dominant men", right? Here, will this do? A quick google search provided this. https://www.scu.edu/media/college-of-arts-and-sciences/psychology/documents/Burger-Cosby-JRP-1999.pdf Do women prefer dominant men over less dominant men when looking for a dating and romantic partner? Although the suggestion that women want a dominant romantic partner may run counter to popular sentiments in American society today, an argument based on evolutionary theory can be advanced suggesting that women of child-bearing age do indeed find dominance an attractive characteristic in their male partners Though it's something that is so innate to humans that I didn't think it needed a study. It's something I know to be true from living life around other people. So there you go, and as I already knew, your mind wasn't changed and this was pointless. Now, if this wasn't the thing you wanted a citation for, then too bad. Your chance is up, I asked multiple times what it was you objected to and you refused to answer. So I had to take a wild guess. |

Why not?.. ;P I just put, what I like to see.. I don't really put male - what for?.. You should identify with your avatar or something?.. Why should I identify with anyone?.. I also could just put some landscape on my avatar, and it'd also be bad, because I'd identify with landscape?.. People sometimes just put whatever they like to see, and that's all.. ;P |

Now, if this wasn't the thing you wanted a citation for, then too bad. Your chance is up, I asked multiple times what it was you objected to and you refused to answer. So I had to take a wild guess. Hopefully the others in the thread will appreciate your due diligence! And here I was called the insufferable one. Good grief. Besides, you could've avoided this whole back and forth by just giving it to me immediately. lol I didn't have a citation on hand. I already told you that. I had to go out of my way to look for some bullshit citation to 'prove' something I already knew was true to someone like you who is so delusional that he needs a very smart science man to tell him that women like strong men. You're a joke. Woaah. |

I can tell this will be productive already. I can see why you don't believe in it! Emphasis on "a little bit". In other words, not really. I never once said that dominance was the only factor in which women choose mates. I never said that you can determine a woman's potential mate based on dominance/non-dominance factor alone (although I do believe it is very important which is why I brought it up). "Dominance" might not even be on the front of a woman's mind when thinking "what do I like in a man?" (although it likely would come up in some form or another in the answers she gives); women likely won't say "I want a dominant man" up front. It's something that comes out when identifying their behaviors, and what types of men they're with. Women want men who are taller than them. Women want men who earn more money than them. Women prefer men who pay for them on dates. Women want men who "wear the pants" in the relationship. That is a desire for dominance. Don't believe me? Need a citation? Lol too bad. I can't be assed to read a 20 page study for an anime forum twat. I came here to give a much needed dissident perspective on MAL, not to give you a bunch of sources from, frankly, corrupt politicized institutions. I guarantee I could google "study shows women like effeminate, submissive men" and I would find 20 citations. It's meaningless. Sorry for the edit! |

I can tell this will be productive already. I can see why you don't believe in it! Emphasis on "a little bit". In other words, not really. I never once said that dominance was the only factor in which women choose mates. I never said that you can determine a woman's potential mate based on dominance/non-dominance factor alone (although I do believe it is very important which is why I brought it up -- and the study there seems to agree it is indeed a factor that plays a roll). I came here to give a much needed dissident perspective on MAL, not to give you a bunch of sources from, frankly, corrupt institutions. I'm glad you're attempting to add nuance to your answer while being butthurt that I'm deigning to question your...lived experience? You want some more nuance? Here: "Most women do have bisexual tendencies even if they don't realize it, according to (((studies))). I believe it's true though. Still, the reason most women don't act on it is because their instinct to want a strong dominant man to provide for her is much stronger. However, dominance is not the only thing that a woman desires. Above all, she wants a provider -- so if the dominance ends up being a negative in the providing for her and her offspring (ie. abuse) then dominance is of course a negative in that scenario. If the man is not loving and pleasant to be with, that is another factor in which dominance may or may not make up for. There may be other factors of masculinity that a woman finds attractive as well! Women see competent men and they are much more attracted to them than fertile, sexy women." Hopefully, you're not wrong about others things where these darn corrupt institutions can contradict you even a little bit. This whole time your agenda was to expose me for being "pseudo-scientific" aka not citing muh studies. Literally you: I can never convince you that science is a field full of pseudo-science presented as (((real))) science. For fuck's sake, there are studies galore concluding that men can become women! Of which I'm sure you too believe. That alone is on its head preposterous, but good luck on me finding a "legitimate" (((citation))) disproving it! Aside from this mission of yours to expose me as a pseudo-scientific fool, you have added NOTHING to the discussion, nor have you ever provided ONE counterargument! You wasted my and everyone's time because I said the simple fact that most women like dominant men! LOL |

You just went and plucked the first one that agreed with you?Tylaen said: HeroicIdealism said: All for a good cause. You want people to believe in you, yeah?Tylaen said: HeroicIdealism said: Well I'm glad we've got such squared away. I'll take to reading it a leisurely pace and I'll let you know! If the thread isn't locked, I'll see you later.Tylaen said: HeroicIdealism said: It doesn't and I wouldn't expect you to site dozens of citations, just one but you've even failed to clear the bare minimum for attempting to back this supposedly scientific claim.Tylaen said: HeroicIdealism said: Perhaps when you've provided the citations which backs your stance, we can start talking but until then...Tylaen said: HeroicIdealism said: You're really fixated on anger, mayhaps it is you who needs to vent their frustration. I suggest Tetris 99!Tylaen said: HeroicIdealism said: So we're working on "Trust me, bruv" here. Why, what a thrilling way to talk about science! I can see why you think it is such a fun activity when you can just make stuff up.Tylaen said: HeroicIdealism said: I'm glad we've established that these citation's don't exist because otherwise you'd have proudly showed them off.Tylaen said: HeroicIdealism said: So, where's my goddamn citation. Go on. Tylaen said: notHeroicIdealism said: That's hilarious. Tell us more about this magic bag of science you've got there.gay meme So... what's wrong with what I said? Go on. I've no desire to argue with a pseudo-science believer who can only spout nonsense, so allow me to point and laugh as you get your citation. I'll be waiting! Not worth my time or more importantly, not worth my effort, wasted on a guy like you. You can look up citations yourself, you have a computer with internet connection in front of you. Have at it. Until then if you'd like to have a conversation then I'm all for it. I do this because I have fun; looking up citations for someone who won't be persuaded either way isn't fun for me. My job is done. Of course citations exist. I don't have them on hand. Am I a human or am I an encyclopedia with citations to pull out of my ass? GTFO of here with this nonsense. Yep I made it up. Absolutely no citations exist on the internet. Women are actually all unique individuals whose sexuality is not determined by biological phenomena whatsoever. "Women" don't even really exist tbh it's a pointless category. So, why the hostility, anyway? You don't like the idea that women like dominant men? Did that rub you the wrong way? P.S Nice edit, bruv. I edit because I don't want to double post. Sorry for following MAL rules. You come in to call me out, you don't extrapolate on what it is that I said that is so laughably false, and you provide no counter-argument. Incredible. Do you want to talk about Laser unicorns? Trust me bruv, they exist. I've got my citations but I don't remember where they were. So in order to say anything on the internet I must provide citations? Does posting to MAL forums hold the same standard as writing a scientific thesis? I don't give a rat's ass if you believe what I say. At this point I simply want to know what it is you object to. Until then I couldn't provide a citation even if I wanted to. But if you refuse to extrapolate then our conversation is over. Alas, I find it far too funny to string someone along than to actually give you what you want. Someone who attempts to pull "U mad bruv" as a last-ditch effort to save face can only be a fun dude! Fine I'll give one. You objected to the "women want dominant men", right? Here, will this do? A quick google search provided this. https://www.scu.edu/media/college-of-arts-and-sciences/psychology/documents/Burger-Cosby-JRP-1999.pdf Do women prefer dominant men over less dominant men when lookingfor a dating and romantic partner? I believe it. I just don't believe it to the extent you do, who finds himself so far down the rabbit hole that he gets ass-mad that his anecdotal experience is questioned :] As for time-wasting, I'd say a man who comes in wielding only his lived experience and expecting others to say "No, allow me to present my experience as a counter-argument" hopefully isn't older than 19. I pray for your growth as a person! If you ever reach that point in life, know that I'm rooting for you. |

Now you're doing the same to me lol. I'm more incredulous at your delusions than anything. Would have been a much, much more engaging conversation than this shitshow. You still haven't presented even one of your beliefs. Quite disappointing but hey you seemed to have fun exposing me as anti science. How was it? I pray for your growth as a person! If you ever reach that point in life, know that I'm rooting for you. Lmao. I'm rooting for you to join the 41% I'm sure you're a part of. Remember folks: women don't like dominant men. It's just a sexist concept. Women don't have any preferences for masculine men on average. Source: some science (wo)man on TV said so. Here's a 70 page study from UC Berkeley proving it. I got an A in Political Science, I know my shit. |

Alas, I wasn't birthed into this world to give you any of the desired stimuli. My beliefs, frankly, do not matter in a discussion of the scientific method. Beliefs are too malleable to be valuable in this area.As for your anti-scientific tendencies, I suppose it's nice to know not to engage with you in the future about such topics and not have to go on a 20+ comment string to find out, yeah? Mayhap it even helps others. Who knows, maybe you'll find an anti-science bruv by my hand! Thank me later. Lmao. I'm rooting for you to join the 41% I'm sure you're a part of. Not familiar with this statistic but I'm fresh out of time and hungry to boot, so I don't feel the need to further interrogate you. |
