I know the romance genre is not in this anime, but I was wondering if there could be a romance even if it's mild.

I'd just expect it. Based on the art style and direction. They really make the females busty asf. So, I'm guessing there will be a bit more of fanservice eventually.

Ther might be fan service but not romance I think cuz the charm of male MC is that he stays away from the MC and that he is obssessed with oni slaying

manga reader here, there is almost no romance in here, it's mostly focused about building connection beetwen race and friendship. as far as it goes for romance it's just a boy from eps.3(todoroki) who love carrot.

Afaik there was romance between sally and mikoto in the original web series but it takes a while to get to that point.
