I read past forums of 'Kimi no nawa' and most of them were just saying how 'A Silent was is better, this movie is overrated, why I don't like this movie etc etc. So I decided to share my experience about this movie.

So I came through a post on IG about this anime name 'kimi no nawa' on my explore page. That was the first time I had an anime post popping up on my feed. It was an edit with a good music in the background and the visuals were too good so I searched and downloaded the movie right away not knowing what it actually is about. Weeks passed but I still didn't bother to watch the movie I was too lazy to and later when I was super bored I decided to give it a try.

On 16th Jan 2021, somewhere around 3:30 pm I watched this movie 'Kimi no nawa' and it left me breathless. The most beautiful movie I've ever seen. The ending scene where they saw each other in train and runs towards eachother and the top tier OST in the bg, my legs were shaking all the time I was feeling so cold and had tears in my eyes everything was just 🀌🏻. After finishing I was so obsessed for a week I couldn't focus on study or anything.

I don't get why people compare this two great movies 'kimi no nawa' and 'A silent voice' I liked both of them but I personally enjoyed 'your name' more.

Yeah, the movie had the same effect on me. It was strikingly beautiful. The story was simple and effective at conveying its emotions. It seriously blew me away and my expectations were surpassed.

I don't care if people like it or not, or prefer something else other than this, cause it doesn't matter, they didn't have the same experience with this movie that we did, this movie will always be perfect for me, it's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, I did not know I could care for fictional characters and events so much as I did for this movie, I haven't resonated with something like I did with this, I know it sounds cheesy but this movie changed me, this will always be one of the things closest to my heart

actually most people who say kimi no na wa isn't anything special, are those who've seen shinkai's previous works. he has a very specific approach to romance and people who have seen his previous movies will hardly be surprised. myself included.

Story was cheesy and made no sense, only people who liked it were soyboy/girls in long distance relationships. All it had going for it was the visuals. Not an opinion straight facts.

That last line completely invalidates everything you said till that point

My opinion might be biased because it's the anime that got me into anime, but yeah for me personally it's a masterpiece, and the best anime & romance (non-anime) movie I've ever seen

Honestly, what's with this influx of your name threads in the past few days? Good to see this one is praising it because I liked the movie quite a lot.

Your Name was the first Shinkai movie I saw. I watched his other movies after Your Name and none of them had the same effect on me. Your Name has a certain charm to it that makes it resonate with me (and others) more than his other movies.

Well I can say the same about '5 Centimeters Apart'. That was the first Shinkai movie I watched. And that's precisely what I was trying to say. He has a very specific style with romance, so you aren't surprised or affected much after watching your first one. Same happened with you, but the other way around.

Couldn’t agree with you more lol. A silent voice fans have your name living rent free in their heads and whenever anything’s related to your name they end up saying ‘watch a silent voice’ or ‘a silent voice is better’. I mean each to their own but spamming it everywhere relentlessly gets annoying as hell and gives the fandom a bad rep. Call me a freak but I’ve seen your name 53 times in the past year lmao, absolutely adore it to this day. Let people whine and complain all they want about the plot or characters etc. if you enjoyed it, you enjoyed it, and I’m happy for you

Ye I hope to see another movie that rivals kimi no nawa. oh the music is memorable as well, hard to beat an anime that comes along with a real life mitsuha.

I guess you have got a point as I too, found his other movies to not be as charming as 'Your Name' was. I love all of his works, but none of them affected me as much as Your Name did.

He's just stating his own preference. I don't see how that makes him a hypocrite. Like he already said, both of them are great.

He first said Why people compare and then proceeds to compare them which makes him a hypocrite.

This is definite my favorite anime movie, and overall movie of all time. A Silent Voice was extraordinarily good, but I did like Kimi no Na Wa a tad bit better.

dude what? What he said was like saying both Coke and Pepsi are pretty good, but he prefers Coke. That's just you stating your own preference. Had he sat down and started rambling on about how Pepsi is too sweet and Coke has less Caffeine or smth, THAT would be comparison. There's a difference yknow.

Well, I like both Silent Voice and Your Name, even Weathering With You. Those who hate it just have the impulse to compare different stories. Disliking it is another topic.

Heck, I even reread the Manga (of Silent Voice) after watching the movie and
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

he really isnt. He never compared them, just stated his preference. The example the other guy gave of coke and pepsi is what i mean as well. There's legit no hypocrisy here lol

Ik no one cares, but I will say anyways. It is quite upsetting that the score dropped so much from about 9.13 when I joined, to 8.92 smh.

It actually is very nice to see someone enjoyed this a lot. Have a good day.

I could talk about it all day..

Technical: the plot, storytelling, characters, camera shots, animation, sound, and even the ost are all excellent.

Non-technical: The flow of the story and development of each character is the best. It just made it through the audiences. Don't care about others being shitty about this movie, maybe they just haven't seen something close to their hearts and much alike their own stories.

This movie is great. This an opinion, I'm not stating a fact. So to those saying it's not good enough, be real.. it's your opinion, don't convince others and don't claim what you're saying is a fact. Wakatta? Sore ja..

Why is it not surprising that P3 fan would use the term soyboy on people who like something he don't and tried to force his opinion as a fact to other people lmao

and you know, that's the anime community nowadays. always comparing and trying to force their opinions on others. just don't pay attention to them
