I think it might be a bit understated how impactful the soundtrack is for me (and probably many others) for this series. Both for S;G and S;G 0 as well as the movie. From the opening and ending songs, to the episode-closing songs, to the beautiful and poetic melodramatic 'Believe Me', 'Solitude', Gate of Steiner on piano, and many more. I can't tell you enough how much it affected me and how it continues to impact me every time I play it at any given moment. Emotions run wild with this beautiful music. The tracks have amazing comments on YT. I can listen for hours on end and not get sick of it.

Anyone else feel this way? Do you think the music in Steins;Gate as a whole is underrated?

EDIT: I realize that I am not alone in the love for this series' soundtrack now. Thank you guys for your input. This series truly is unmatched in my opinion, in every aspect.

I’ve listened to hacking the gate around 100 times. That was the first OP I didn’t skip a single time.

I'd argue that after the characters and story, the music is the best part of Steins Gate. I always loved the quiet tracks and their usage of louder songs for significant scenes that definitely needed it.

The quiet tracks complimented the atmosphere of the entire show whether it was to illustrate the calm peace of their lives or the quiet feeling of despair for the situation.

I might’ve exaggerated a bit, it may not be underrated or under appreciated but I feel like it just doesn’t get mentioned as often for the pure epic ness of what it brings to the series. For me it is vitally as important as anything else that makes this series amazing, which includes the story and characters and the emotions are just so well put together via the soundtrack to back them up, which is why it feels like my heart stops every time I watch it or think about it while listening to some of the sadder tracks.

I agree! “Quiet air” is my favorite ‘peaceful’ track.

I think the calmness, humor and overall goofy ness for the most part in the first nearly half of the original series is played so well between the characters and tracks that when the major disaster first hits, it creates such a shock to your system that it makes the sadness of the tone afterwards so much more meaningful. This is why I can’t understand people who simply dropped the show early on because they found it ‘boring’. There’s a reason for everything and it’s masterfully done.

Nah the soundtrack is amazing. One of my favorite, if not my favorite in anime.
I gave up on character of the week since it takes too much thinking. I'll just change my forum pfp to whoever I want every week lol.

Yeah the OST in Steins;Gate is freaking awesome and I love every single one of it, my favorite one is Farewell (Suzuha's Theme) which got me crying like a little baby in episode 16, goddamn how I wish I could rewind time just to see that episode for the 1st time again, episode 16 is the one that broke me the most but I also got very emotional and cried in episode 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24.

I've watched plenty of emotional animes but none of them broke me like Steins;Gate did man.

Steins;Gate 0 also had a great OST, I didn't like the anime but I did like the OST which was pretty damn good too and totally loved episode 8 which is the best episode in Steins;Gate 0 by far IMHO, that episode also got me crying like a little baby.

Yeah true. I realize now I was wrong using those words. I really just wanted to emphasize how much the music in S;G/S;G0 hits me in the feels every single time. I wasn't too heavily into Japanese music in the past but this series has completely changed my perspective. It's just so powerful, especially when combined with the beautiful and emotionally gripping story that it accompanies.
