Hello! I just started watching anime this past year, and have enjoyed pretty much everything I've watched in some way or another. So I'm curious, what did you like or dislike about this show in particular? What drew you in to start watching in the first place?

...and as a bit of a side discussion for my first post, what are some of you're favorite stories/media outside of anime/manga? Mine right now is the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson!

I started watching jujutsu Kaisen immediately it aired I never even knew that the anime was coming out I’ve never even heard of it until I first saw episode 1 on my page that it just aired that day and I decided to watch it then what? I fell in love with the anime lol I just couldn’t help myself. I just loved it and always waited in anticipation for the next episode. Surprisingly enough o don’t dislike anything about jujutsu Kaisen except that one part about Junpei. Others may not like this anime but to me..it’s almost close to a masterpiece and seeing how eve sang the first opening I couldn’t help myself that just added to how much I love jujutsu Kaisen >.<

I don't really know when I started watching anime, but It was just sometimes, for fun. Now I'm really into it.

I started JJK by recommendation of friends, otherwise I wouldn't even know it exists lol
What I dislike was the racing way of driving everything, which is already quite normal in Shounen. The characters are introduced, but not deeply enough (at least for me). But it is also my only complaint, they are all charismatic and the animation is perfect. Welcome to the otaku world! :D

What i liked most about this show was the sense of humor and what i disliked most is how overhyped it is. I had really high expectations due to hype.

The animation is done really well and there are a tonne of fights. Each episode there’s somehow a fight scene included and i feel it just never gets boring the whole way through.

Thanks xD. And I can totally see the characters getting fleshed out a bit more as the series goes on (at least I hope they do)

Although I like the little jokes and stuff in JJK, I feel like the humor in shounen can be off putting to a lot of people, so it's interesting that it was your favorite. But the juju strolls and some of the Yuuji/Nobara/Gojou interactions are pretty great lol

I decided to watch the anime after hearing countless good things about it, and I will say that i definitely do not regret it. The characters in this anime are great and Im sure many people will argue Gojo is the coolest character so far. Also, the power system in this anime is quite interesting although its kinda confusing sometimes? But i guess it just makes the power system flexible.

Yeah this first season felt like it was just introducing the world they are in, giving insight to the curses, cursed energy, and jujutsu sorcerers as a whole. Definitely not the strongest point but interesting nonetheless, at least for me anyway

JK has problems with its villains. I don’t feel invested with any of them nor do I like any of their character designs. With Gojo in the show, the villains lack any forms of threat and in the Shibuya Arc Incident their threat levels really dipped. I also don’t like Megumin and Nobara; Megumin’s character design doesn’t really reflect his personality and his name too- I keep thinking of it as a girl’s name (thanks to Shokugeki). Nobara is quite a bland character with a bland design and a bland story. With these two being the main trio, it really brings JK down for me. The hype for Shibiya Incident Arc really got me looking forward to more of the show, it’s what kept me going. So you can expect me being a little disappointed when the arc finished. Yes, the fights were good but people really hyped this arc up to be game changing, saying how it changes the anime to such a degree that it will be the GOAT. To be honest, I was just thinking how the arc copied MHA on their training incident arc, even more so the threats felt more impending in MHA than JK. JK has very good fights with no substance. They try to make up for it with these short backstories but that just felt formulaic and repetitive every time someone won. Also, there was that scene where the principle grandpa was rocking his guitar ready to fight but Gojo comes in to steal his prey :( I wanted to see him kick ass, everyone else had their fights except him. Itadore is low key boring, I keep getting reminded of Natsu whenever he’s on screen. The demon inside his body is so merciful a lot of the times that he also lacks a sense of threat to Itadori. [SPOILER] Him killing Itadori too early in the show was a bad move, it was quite obvious that the main character would come back to life in some way. It led to the casual reunitement between the trio after he was revived. Every character in this show isn’t really that interesting for me nor likable. The only exceptions were Momo. Kind of for Miwa. Maybe even Aoi Todo too.

Don’t get me started with what goes on outside the show. First, the hype about the show- it has more Google searches than One Punch Man, meaning it’s even more hyped than an extremely hyped show at its peak. You got fans rabidly exclaiming everywhere how the anime is great and all that but the only statements they make on what makes the show good is its fight scenes and Gojo. Second, Gojo stans. Gojo, for an anime character is an okay looking dude- there’s all kinds of white haired pretty eyed boys in anime that are just like him. Hell, I would say Kakashi is more attractive that the blindfolded god. There’s all this hype for Gojo everywhere I go, with redundant comments from guys being, “I’m a dude but I’m questioning my sexuality” no you’re not, stop the cap. Third, the usual of any battle anime which is pitting characters against other anime characters. To be fair, it’s not that bad compared to DBZ and MHA but it still happens nevertheless, specifically with Gojo.

Before JK elitists bombard my opinions with essays, let me just say that I like the show. If I were to had watched it without knowing about all the hype then maybe my score would’ve been higher. Hype sets expectations.

@XylonC You make some good points, it's nice to see examples too! I am fortunate enough to really not be on social media or really care about hype. I have little expectations for most things too lol. I find it easier to enjoy most things in life that way but hey that's just me.

I like the characters in the show enough but I can see where you're coming from. And people online are pretty vocal and annoying so it can be a turn off for sure

I started watching anime in like...mid December 2020 and I have enjoyed almost everything...and i started watching Jujutsu Kaisen quite late...i think it was episode...17 when i started....i mean that one aired when i started...What do i like? Well let's just get this out of the way....animation is probably the best one i saw and it's totally to my liking... Then just the characters, even though people say that characters are bad.Like i absolutely LOVE Yuuji and Gojo (I'm not gay) , and i adore how Sukuna is not just classis villain, but he kinda has some comedy and stuff mixed in. Fushiguro kinda reminds me of myself even tho i can't beat up the whole school and pile them up...Pacing is great...not too fast not too slow...Yuuji and Kugisaki simping over Tokyo...Then connection between Todou and Yuuji....BRAZZA! Story is developing and i like it... it's pretty obvious that there will be 2nd season and I'm very hyped....and yeah...i like everything about it and it is my kind of show...like all my favorites are Tokyo Ghoul, MHA, Demon Slayer, Black Clover, Naruto (watching at the moment), AoT before last season.... Jujutsu Kaisen is there too now...so yeah

Went In expecting an extremely mediocre boring cliche shounen.Finished it a few minutes ago. Definitely not boring. Has a few hype moments but the show took its time to get to those.

Likes:
Great animations
Very interesting fights
Reasonably likeable characters
Cool character design
Decent music

Dislikes:
Very very cliche everything
Fights are extremely predictable
Character motivations are dull
Story is pretty boring besides gojo satoru who makes it bearable

My score: 6/10

Overall worth watching. Will def watch S2. Fun enough.

I really love the tournament arc in this show.
It's not 1 dimensional. Each character has it's own personal goal.
Maki wanting to become the head of her clan
The higher ups plan to kill Itadori
The villains plan to kill Gojo.
I just like how it's not 1 dimensional even though it's cliched I still love it.

Honestly, I love the animation of this show, and how they made Itadori evolve. At first, he reminded me of a combination of Shirou and Tanjiro. But at the halfway point, he developed into his own person, with his own ideals, and his own power. Plus, the animation is fantastic. It's Ufotable good.

The way they underplay the misogyny in the sorcery world, like we get a whole ass monologue about how hard it is for women to make it in the sorcery world then norbara just says I don't give a f/ck and kicks the mf off her broom

I liked the characters a lot they were loveable and interesting but wouldn't say they were well-written cuz they're really not, they're just cool but not deep and their backstories were meh imo. Animation and music were amazing and the fights as well. There were some moments I thought were great but could've been better. It really put together a lot of the shounen troupes and used it well. It does feel like it copied a lot of things from the big 3. I liked the last few episodes a lot, nobara and megumi literally went psycho mode. I think jjk is great but I thought it had a lot of things missing such as good writing but I'm sure with each season and movie the writing will get better. I do think the ratings are really high for jjk and that's because it recently ended and the hype is still there but I think the scores will drop by a lot in just few months just like what happened to demon slayer. Some people will probably argue with me just cuz I said it's overrated but tbh monster and hajime no ippo are way better. Hajime no ippo I think did a way better job in using shounen troupes but like I said I think jujutsu kaisen will get better with each season and movie and I might like it more than hajime no ippo

Likes: The fights were pretty good, though some would have this odd CGI moment, it wasn't all bad. The MC and the other characters were pretty cool.

Dislike: The only character I didn't like was Nobara. Could be she wasn't in the show long and she comes off a bit too, bitchy at times. I didn't hate her, but I didn't like her that much. Maybe she'll get better in season 2.

Dislike: Typical cliche plot. First episode had me wanting to drop this series and that’s a first for me when it come to anime.

Likes: i don’t have much but look like effort was put into the animation and fight scenes
