| As someone who likes anime and this series, yeah, it's a bit off putting. It's the reason anime is a niche interest even in Japan. I'll still watch it, because I love this series, but I struggle with wishing that Japanese cartoons had more restraint. On the one hand, my sensibilities can get a little ruffled, but on the other, it's just drawings. People who get up in arms about cartoons need to chill, but I get why it can be upsetting. Hell, I love the Monogatari series but it gets freaking awkward, often seemingly intentionally so. |
