just want to say if there is any game elements whatsoever even slightly I lose all of my interest in the series. I also prefer a more serious tone to the story but some like KonoSuba and No game no life I like as well.

when I watch a show like that it removes any feelings I have of the MC being in danger or having the need to grow stronger, I feel game elements need to stay in games, I don't care if its even something small if it is game like it ruins the series for me so none of that please.

examples of Isekai I like are Re Zero, KonoSuba, Mushoku Tensei, Saga Of Tanya The Evil, Drifters, The Devil Is A Part Timer, No game no life, Re Creators, Ascendance Of A Bookworm.

the only exception I have found is Overlord and the game elements disappear when Ainz is transported to the new world so I feel like it is perfectly fine.

examples of Isekai that range from dislike to plain hating is these

The Rising of the Shield Hero (generic and boring only unique in 1 or 2 small ways), Sword Art Online (hate), Slime (hate it and its boring), Log Horizon (just a meh series not horrible just meh), Cautious Hero (rather lacking in enjoyment plus no real story), The Twelve Kingdoms (bad acting in my opinion ruined any enjoyment I had).

what do you mean by video game elements? if you dont give us a specific criteria then we won't know... also, there are thousands of video games and shows like konosuba and mushoku tensei definitely have lots of 'video game elements' in them too like magic.

to give you a recommendation though, and let me warn you - this one's quite unconventional/unique, i'd recommend fumetsu no anate e.

Isekaied in past where Oda Nobunaga is a chick.

Anime was it's best 20000 years ago, when cavemen drew art with real depth.
Modern anime is all garbage. I miss great old days of anime.

Would you be interested in some pretty old series like now and then, here and there or escaflowne?
Nobunaga concerto was also pretty good in spite of the shit cg.
War on geminar is my favorite isekai and it doesn't have any game elements but it also doesn't have the "serious tone" you're looking for.

Grimgar is a good anime, but it includes game elements. Characters have classes and "unlock" skills and combos.

To be true ur example don't make sense. Anime like re zero (restart concept of videogame), konosuba ( adventure class, new skills etc) are way more videogame like than twelve kingdom.
So I am not sure

Anyways the one with least videogame element are

Inuyasha
Kakuriyo
Fushigi yugi
Kemono Michi (has konosuba like comedy)
Kyo Kara Maoh!
The Boy and the Beast
Maybe Gate

Despite that, the battle in Grimgar is pretty realistic and I thought OP might be interested in that

I don't think magic is a video game element. The concept of magic is thousand years old.

I second Grimgar. Video game elements are sort of present, but you will never feel like the characters aren't in danger. But if you are interested, you should definitely read the LN. It's just infinitely better than the anime.

I second Digimon Adventure and Escaflowne (didnt watch any of the others you mentioned, sorry). Many people tend to forget older titles when it comes to Isekai because they might have the impressions that its a "new" concept that got invented when the light novel adaptation boom started.

Since the OP asked for a bit more serious of a tone, I tend more towards Escaflowne. Also I guess it could be argued that Digimon Adventure does have a game-element with raising your partner and leveling up and all. I rewatched the original Digimon some years ago and I was surprised I still enjoyed it.

Inuyasha and Monster Rancher/Farm. It's old but gold and without video game elements :)

Or if you want newer one: GATE Jieitai....it has modern/fantasy settings but dont have something like status or level up so dont worry :)

Familiar of Zero, always a classic. It's still trashy harem comedy hijnks, but in a comforting way. No videogame elements.

Now and Then, Here and There. Kind of depressing, but also just very good.

That said, I don't think I personally am going to get anywhere recommending anything to you, because two of the shows on your 'I hate these' list are some of my favourite isekai.

Since you're fine with manga, Saihate no Paladin.

The whole game thing is actually one of the things I also hate about the Isekai genre, initially back before the modern Isekai boom the point of being reborn into another world was for the other world, and for that you need world building, which Saihate no Paladin seems to be one of the very few Isekai that actually gives a shit about that. There's nothing more immersion breaking than seeing a character straight up open a level up screen, and fortunately SnP has none of that shit.

I honestly don't know if it's as good a series as I think, I might just be in shock because it actually treats it's world as a world and the power fantasy doesn't come off too heavily (it is kind of there if you really try to look for it).

Also there's nothing wrong with going back to the OG Digimon, that shit's still good.

I would suggest:

Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash
Twelve Kingdoms
The Vision of Escaflowne
GATE
El Hazard
Fushigi Yugi
"The name's Gambit. Remember it."
-Gambit "X-Men '97"

forgot to add that into the list of names, I have seen it :p

oh sorry yeah what I mean is I don't like anime that add stuff such as "levels" or "character levels" and stuff like that, really just game mechanics in general I don't like to see such as shit where the MC can see an HP bar which I find stupid. magic I view as its own thing and is fine in most cases.

well with Re Zero I don't consider restarting after dying to be a solely video game concept, I particularly don't like seeing leveling up screens appear infront of a character,

I am fine with old anime as long as its good and the acting isn't overblown all of the time, I am also fine with some comedy series as I even mentioned a few.

I must warn you that YU-NO is not as good as the others.
And while the Rayearth characters often say “this is just like a video game,” Magic Knight Rayearth has fewer game elements than Konosuba.

- Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku is much darker than most isekai, and feels like a Ghibli movie if it went off the rails a bit.

- Youjo Senki is pretty good.

- Ascendance of a Bookworm is super good, probably my favorite isekai.

- Drifters. I thought it wasn't very good, but might be enjoyable.

- Children Who Chase Lost Voices is a pretty interesting movie if you want an atypical isekai.

- Bokura no kind of has these elements, but I can't explain for spoiler reasons. People that have seen it will understand.

- I haven't yet seen it, but I hear The Twelve Kingdoms is good too.

There's probably more that I have seen but can't remember off the top of my head.

"They escaped the weight of darkness,
to forge a path into the marrow of the spirit.
They chose to drown in a deeper vacancy,
an emptiness that quells the null,
a pool for the forgotten..."

Aura Battler Dunbine was the first anime isekai, and it's pretty different from most isekai being a mecha. Very serious and politically driven plot.

I meant rezero is more game like than 12 kingdoms. (Other than restart ability, it also has some dungeons and dragon monster elements too). At any rate, U can consider whatever u want to consider as game like. It none of my concern.
