Hi y'all! I wanna get into the Atelier Game series but I don't know the order of the games. I only have a PS4 and PS Vita by the way.

Ryza and Sophie are good starting points, but you can really start anywhere as they are all self contained stories, though games in the same saga share locations & have previous characters occasionally return.

You can usually tell which by the subtitle.
For example, the Mysterious trilogy would be Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book, Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey, and Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings

Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists: Ateliers of the New World is an anniversary game that sticks nearly everyone in one game

A PS4 and a PS Vita, huh.

Usually, you should start at the first of the three on each series. I haven't play Ryza so don't ask me about that. I heard it's pretty good, though.

Out of the three series, Arland, Dusk and Mysterious, I have come to enjoy the Dusk series a lot even though I have slightly been left a terrible taste due to the first ps3 Ayesha game which didn't allow for party member change without consuming in game time. It should not be a problem with the plus or the DX version now.

Generally, A happier one will be the Arland series. Dusk has slightly darker theme behind its happy surface and I'm not very sure about the Mysterious beside them being a lot like a slice of life thing. You can pretty much take your own sweet time in Mysterious but that can bore people too.

Just a warning though, Arland has pretty strict time management and you best play it with a guide or else you are going to fail very miserably. Meruru has slightly easier time management though. Rorona can be pretty task based so it gets boring quick. I certainly didn't finish that. For Arland, starting with Totori might not be a bad choice.

Ayesha has great scenery and great OST. I'm still in the middle of playing escha and logy, and it's looking pretty good so far. So I'm sure Dusk series is a good place if you really want to enjoy the games.

As for Sophie, I quickly got bored, but might retry it. Haven't touch Firis though.

I just read through that, and it says that there are some Atelier games that have a "time limit." That sucks. I've only ever played the first Atelier Iris game on the PS2, and thankfully, there was no time limit in that game.

I won't be investing in the rest of the franchise knowing this.

Just like BrightFlashLight said it might not be the best to start with Arland trilogy because of the time management and character events that are easy to miss because you don't see which event is available (actually there is something as friendship points that unlock certain events). Even though I recommend this series because it has a great humour and characters. Personally, I like Arland trilogy the most. Dusk games are a great start because they are a lot easier than Arland and you shouldn’t have any problems to completed them (playing with guide is still recommended).
