She was "sacrificed"... but then she's sitting in the Sky dimension all safe and sound, and apparently she could have jumped down back to Earth at any time. I suppose her survival depends on whether or not she decided to sit up there and presumably starve to death, or to try to commit suicide and jump off of the floating island, only to wake up at the shrine gate. |

I thought it was implied that Hodaka was only able to go get her because of his own prayers to God. Remember the water-fish were covering her up and only cleared away when he came for her. I'm quite sure she was trapped there. |
