| hi hope someone can help me. everytime MAL Updater can't find a show that wasn't listed on any of my lists it always freezes the Windows taskbar/commands (like Ctrl+D) and it keeps frozen for minutes... it happens with shows the MAL updater don't recognize too. I'm on Windows 10 64x thanks in advance |

If you have the Performance tab of Windows Taskmanager open when the problem occurs, does it show a CPU, Disk or Memory spike? Are you running other memory- or CPU-hungry processes (what is the typical 'resting' percentage use at)? Which player/browser + streaming site do you use? I'm sure there is a tonne more information that would be useful to help diagnose the problem, but those should get you started at least... I know that I get a miniscule amount of system freeze when it tries to load up the search window (only when in the situation you described though, manually opening it is fine) or the info window, mostly down to the sudden CPU/RAM spike, but I often have a number of other processes running in the background eating up resources (my CPU & RAM tend to sit around 40-50% while not watching anime) and the issue isn't exclusive to MALu. The Ram comsumption is always at normal rates without any spikes ... normally it's only the MPC HC + Mal Updater + Firefox with a max of 5-6 tabs open but even when I'm using it all + other programs (like Photoshop) I can still change programs with Alt+Tab without any problems and they always work fine, except the MAL Updater that I can never choose because it stop responding (if I minimize all the open windows, I can still access them with Alt+Tab, but the MAL Updater keeps frozen on the screen). And if I close MAL Updater on the Task Manager the taskbar/windows button/menu works fine again. |

| Could the update of "Windows Creators Update for Windows 10" block the anime recognition ? Since that update MALUpdate doesn't detect any anime :( |

| I'm using Creators Update without any problems (with MPC-BE, not sure about VLC and other players) |

Using this function https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms724509(v=vs.85).aspx I get a list of allocated system handles, then for every handle I check if the process ID is the player's (in this case VLC), then I check if that handle is for a valid file type/device address that I can transform into a valid file path. The type for that seems to vary for every version of Windows, it's 28 in XP, 25 in Vista, 28 in W7 etc. With Creators Update this changed as well and was out of the range MALU checks so it couldn't find any files in use by VLC since it was skipping the handles that were "out of range". This is undocumented API stuff so it's a bit trial and error to find out. In the case of MPC I use a different method to retrieve the file path, so it wasn't affected by this change. |

| As of today MALU doesn't display anything in either the anime or manga list, shows all categories at 0. No network problems, refreshing doesn't work. What's going on? EDIT: nevermind, figured out the problem. |

| Excellent program, i've been using it for a long time but something started to bother me. i like watching on high volume, when program makes an update on list it shows notifications and that sound really disturbs me, so how i can turn of those sounds?  So I've been having this error for a while now and was wondering how to go about fixing it. Whenever I turn my PC off, 9 times out of 10, this error will pop up and I'll have to get out of bed and manually close it. It started happening months ago and I put it down to something messing up on my install or whatever. As I knew I was going to be building a PC soon I just endured it. However, on this completely new build, it's still happening. I've had cursory checks on here since it started and haven't seen it mentioned which is why I'm surprised it's now happened on a new PC. |

| Looks like we have a new update to MALU. However, after I downloaded it at my end, the file was detected and forwarded as a possible virus file. Hopefully it won't be deleted as such. Fingers crossed as I'm an Avast user. |

| I still have the Problem, that any kind of episode updates are not working. But now I get the error "ExceptForbidden". Long story: I had a system crash while MALU Running. Upon restart all MALU setting were gone. After reset MALU updating was working again and everything was fine. Now I had another crash of this kind (Windows 10 FTW). Again all settings were gone but updating is no longer working. This time with the "ExceptForbidden" message. |
