[Resolved] Did I just get a really well done fake PM email notification from MAL itself?

Lo, maybe this is just something I should be aware as MAL user, but I just got a strange email from MAL. (And I have no idea what happened here the past X years.. ,p)

Firstly, here it is

Stuff about it
# All images hosted on MAL, yes, including that profile pic
# email in the "PM" is known scam-mail
# User does not exist (anymore?)
# Link goes to non-existing com-to-com (anymore?)
# SPF is valid, IP 54.240.27.95
# DKIM is valid, amazonses.com

Seems a pretty elaborate method to send me 1 line of spam.... but more importantly, how is it a user that doesn't exist can send me a LEGIT PM notification for a PM that doesn't exist? ;P

So yea? Maybe totally pointless to post this, spam is spam and what not.. still, neatly done scam spam, I applaud the effort.

Was it a waste of everyones time to even post about it?

The email is a legit notification from MAL. It was a spambot that was leaving spam comments on user profiles. I removed this account several hours ago though, that's why you don't see the comment on your profile anymore and the account can't be seen because it doesn't exist anymore. Unfortunately the sent email notification can't be taken back once it's sent.

Ah, then *big* thanks for fighting the endless fight against spambots. Obviously wasted your time by not being aware that this was a thing and how a deleted user/comment looks like when you search em after the fact, I never had profile spam before and that with 9 years being here, heh, so sorry about that ;P

Anyhow, disabled email notifications now so I won't bother you again ^^
