Animes that focuses on war, battle scenes and the progress of the faction, country or something like a band of mercenarys that has a big purpose/story. * Seinen * R - 17+/R+ * Minimal of 20 episodes Nohting should be or feel rushed in the storyline, timeline and in how they progress forward. No mecha, robots. Please.. nothing like: https://myanimelist.net/anime/3667/Strike_Witches 3 series that i like and a kind of prefences of what i'm looking for: https://myanimelist.net/anime/28249/Arslan_Senki_TV https://myanimelist.net/anime/12031/Kingdom https://myanimelist.net/anime/12413/Jormungand (This is kind of not what i said i'm looking for, but they do have a lot of military action scenes in both seasons that i find acceptable) And what about Black Lagoon? Yeah but the their story is not "big" big.

Phantom : requeim for the phantom ( more like jormungand . one of my fav.s ) Nejimaki Seirei Senki: Tenkyou no Alderamin ( only 13 , I'm still watching it and wondering why it's not that popular ) Joker games ( a military one but I didn't watch it though ) Edit : I thought u ve watched " Gate " but it's only in ur PTW. You should see it.

To me it looks like you're describing Utawarerumono. It is set in a medieval/fantasy setting, and is filled with war strategy and battle scenes. It has a bit of a twist on its focus near the last episodes though, but that only makes the story more interesting. I think you should give it a try. Tears to Tiara is also very similar to what you are describing. It's also set in a medieval/fantasy setting, and it's about a clan who is trying to fight an oppressive empire. This show is very similar to Utawarerumono, so if you dislike one you shouldn't even watch the other. I think they are both very good though, you'll probably enjoy them. Drifting a bit away from your description and a bit more into the shows you've listed as ideal, I'll recommend you Seirei no Moribito. It's pretty similar to Arslan Senki, but it isn't about war, it's about a prince who is suffering several assassination attempts from his own father, and then his mother hires a mercenary to take him away and protect him. The story may seem a little cliche at first, but the character development is pretty impressive.

I watched the beginning of Utawarerumono, it felt rushed and it lost interest already after 8 episodes. I've seen Tears of Tiara. Seirei no Moribito i have it in my plan to watch list already. But thanks for the answer and tips :) |

Black Lagoon is good and highly compared to Jormungand due to similar theme and settings. I would suggest you to try on Valkyria Chronicles if you don't mind of militia fighting full-fledged army. Anything else will be as follow: - Saiunkoku Monogatari - Utawarerumono (followed quite closely with the VN) - Gunslinger Girl My impression on GATE isn't that good. Will not recommend to you if you really want war themed anime.

Unfortunately there's not a lot of Seinen-war focused animes... it gets difficult to find one with 20+ episodes (unless they have 2 seasons)... So i'll have to give you some pg-13 ones that weren't mentioned. P.S. I didn't check your completed list Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Code Geass - i heard you dropped it but w/e it's in everyone's military/war anime list Mobile Suit Gundam 00 - old gundam fans hate this Senjou no Valkyria Aldnoah.Zero Alderamin on the Sky - Madhouse studios made this. Only downside is this has a slow start and so it takes a while to get into Arslan Senki Black Lagoon Overlord - not really but w/e Guilty Crown - kinda Full Metal Panic Jormungand - like black lagoon Hellsing Ultimate - there are Nazis so technically Darker than Black Phantom no Requiem Black Cat - not really Attack on Titan - kinda? Fullmetal Alchemist - well this are wars in a sense... Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari - really childish tone though Break Blade - TV and Movie series are basically the same pacing Jyu Oh Sei Kill la Kill Chromed Shelled Regios - but only after anime ends lol Drifters - still airing and won't make it very fary (i read the manga) Titania - i forgot what this was about Yamato 2199 - battleship in space Xam'd: Lost Memories Eureka Seven K: Return of the King - sorta? Sengoku Basara - Samurai Kings battle for the Shogun position Berserk - not really Trigun - well... 1 guy vs world Zetsuen no Tempest - ugh, a tree will destroy the world... witches... blah blah blah Kingdom (season 1 has terrible CGI though but it's a great series to read and s2 is alot better) Mobile Suit Gundam Wing Nobunaga the Fool - it's a hit or miss Vandread - it's a hit or miss Legend of the Galactic Heroes - it's a hit or miss RahXephon - hit or miss Basilisk: Kouga Ninpou Chou Kakumeiki Valvrave - if you don't mind plot holes Joker Game Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu - kinda Owari no Seraph - kinda... Maoyuu Maou Yuusha - bit of a stretch Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku Girl Und Panzer - kinda... Ghost in the Shell - this was rushed because the anime series was cancelled and turned into a movie Toaru Hikuushi e no Koiuta - had a lot of potential but failed to delivery in the end Oda Nobunaga - moe though >.> Sidonia no Kishi - the character designs confuses me a lot Gate - pretty sure everyone watched this by now though >.> Gunslinger Girl Macross - if you can get pass all the ridiculous artwork and annoying singing... So Ra No Wo To Armored Trooper Votoms - very old Mobile Suit Gundam - very old... The Princess and the Pilot - movie by madhouse Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere II Maria the Virgin Witch - this is a huge stretch First Squad: The Moment Of Truth - terrible but still... Kantai Collection - It's like Strike Witches which says alot... But honestly if you like seinen and just something a little f**ked up in general like say a zombie apocolypse/post-apocolypse then i suggest Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica . And do not be deceived by the title, artwork, or girls... shit gets real pass episode 5 and it gets worth-while from that point onwards. ^ I've avoided this series for the longest time since the name and artwork put me off but i don't regret watching it after many years had gone by. Especially when the sequel movies came out recently before i decided to watch this

These may not be exactly what you're looking for but some aspects in these animes do contain what you mentioned... (At least some form of military is involved and they're in some kind of war.) World Trigger Black Bullet God Eater Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei Hakuouki 07-Ghost Kekkai Sensen Also, I really enjoyed all three (Arslan Senki, Kingdom, Jormungand) so maybe you'll like the ones I listed as well. ^^
