I don't watch as much as I used to, pick and choose shows I really think I'll enjoy. I find that I'm getting bored and fast forwarding through slow episodes. The only anime I truly think I enjoy are those with captivating visuals and animation, which seems to only be in movies. I don't want to give it up though...

Yeah, I'm getting almost tired of it.. I'm trying to work out watching different animes at a time to keep up my interest in it, but it's kind of failing.. I've become really interested in ongoing mangas/animes, but once you catch up to it you have to wait about a week or month which tends to make you lose interest.. Eventually I'll get back into it, but not for another few days or so :P

Here's what I do when I'm getting burned out on anime:

-Take a break. Whether it's for a few weeks or a few months, when you come back you'll feel refreshed and ready to watch again.
-Branch out into other genres. Usually all about shoujo? Watch some gundam.
-Watch older anime, say, from the 90s and earlier. You'll be surprised how much good stuff is still out there.

Aria. I know, you need to be relaxed to watch it. But since it's only 13 episodes, I'm watching one episode a day and I'll finish soon. That's a nice way to watch boring stuff.

I am the same right now. Like everyones been saying I will just take a break for a while and start reading a new novel or only read manga. I also find that I get bored quicker if I watch an entire series one after the other so I always have at least three animes on the go at once. It helps keep me intested. The bug always comes back in the end anyway.

Also if something is boring just drop it! I made myself sit through Bokura Ga Ita even though I hated it and to this day get angry when thinking about that stupid series.

There are indeed alot of people with more than that (me for an example), there are even users with like 300-400 watched shows.

ontopic:
I have my moments, sometimes i watch like a 26 episode series a day (this happens only on the weekends). Usually when i'm a bit bored i almost stop completely and only watching my weekly shows (naruto / bleach) till i feel like watching more again.

This really applies to me when eventhough I don't like the anime anymore I still watch it cause I don't wanna drop any anime. I don't wanna judge it when I haven't finish it yet.

I get bored of anime when i cannot find some interesting one. I remember i started School Days after some average animes, for me, and the anime brought back my hopes. Was hooked after 2-3 episodes.

Okay, this is only my second post here, don't shoot me xD .

I'm actually just getting into anime (and manga) series for the first time (and having fun 'running around' like a nut trying to find out what series I might like) but, I'd think as long as they keep developing new stuff that might fit your tastes it wouldn't be easy to get bored.

I should admit though, by my amateur calculation, 120 series in one year would be like 8 or 9 episodes a day for a whole year/4 hours a day? It does sound like overdoing it, everything is best in moderation :) .

Well.. Taking myself for example, when I'm really addicted to a certain series--like One Piece for example--I would watch it nonstop. Like over a weekend I'd do my best to watch as many episodes as possible because it's hard to stop. But then once you catch up, it sucks because you have to wait a week or so for new episodes/chapters, etc.

But you are correct, everything is best in moderation.. Just not everyone listens to that xD

It happens, especially after a long spurt of anime. Switch it up a bit. Get a normal TV show or watch some movies, even a book or a video game works. When you come back to watching anime again it is best to do a little research and find a good one you are pretty sure you are going to like, you can even rewatch an old favorite if you want

definitely drop a series if it is boring you. Several times I have made the mistake of continuing with stuff that I KNEW didn't interest me, just so I could check it off on my list as 'complete'. and it ended up being a waste of time. Don't feel the need to finish something if it is boring you, there is so much anime out there, just find something else. Even if people have told you something is good and you find it boring don't feel bad, everyone has different tastes.

Currently having the same problem
I guess all those nights of watching anime and not getting enough sleep is haunting me
I'd honestly rather sleep than watch anime though because old habits die hard, I end up not getting enough sleep anyway even without watching anime

or maybe almost all the new shows are just not so interesting...

So yeah, I've got an odd little cycle going on.

watching scifi shows instead

*very late post*

Happens to me every week. I think I over watch and over read to the point it feels like I'm forcing myself. When it happens to me I don't feel like doing anything but lying down on my bed trying to get motivation to do something but just end up being too lazy. The next day I go back to watching excessive amounts of anime. Tbh I think it has to do with my eyes and brain need more rest from the 15+ hours a day looking at screen cycle. You wasn't the only one.

So,i get real anime-watching hype that goes on for about 1-2 month. Then probably I end up watching an anime I liked sooooooo much that every other animes seems like shit compared to it/ or I try to look for something similar and end up not finding it.Then I suddenly lost interest in anime and end up taking 3-4 months break. Then I start watching again slowly and soon get into that anime-watching overdose again. However, most of the time,I lose interest in animes during college-vacations,and i start overdosing literally right before exams because my brain is f'd up.

If you do too much of anything in a small amount of time, you will suffer from burnout.
And the more you watch, the more you know most of it is garbage.

I somewhat understand this.

First thing I would recommend, is to not tackle wayyy to much at once. I saw someone's earlier post said 120 series in a year is about two entire series per week. That is simply excessive, unless you are one of those people who watch everything at a significantly increased speed.

Check and see if the majority of stuff you are watching is repetitive. As much as I love Dementia, Mahou Shoujo, and Mecha, I refuse to just excessively indulge in any of these three genres because I don't want to become burnt out. Get some variety.

Take a break. I'm not watching anime as often as I normally would right now because my focus is more on my youtube channel and video gaming, and the pendulum will swing back to anime soon enough.

Don't be afraid to drop things you aren't enjoying. I know on MAL dropping things is often seen as forsaking the medium, but relax. There is no reason to ever torture yourself. I don't care what other people say about "you need to watch the whole thing in order to talk about it". It's not worth it. It is never worth it.
At the same time, don't be afraid to put a series on hold. Even if it is something you are enjoying, but don't want to watch often, it's fine to go with a significant break before actually tackling it.

I hope some of that helps you out.

It happens to everyone. Especially as you get older and other things begin to take up your time. Just take a break.

I took a break for about 2 months, and I barely watch anything still right now. I just began to revise priorities and have other responsibilities now.

Try to do other things that make you happy. Ask yourself what has been different lately. You might be stressed. This seems to be my problem most times; I get stressed and it reduces enjoyment greatly.

I recently watched Shinsekai yori and it got me hooked from episode 1, and it's pretty good. But other than that, haven't completed an anime in like... 6 months?

I just came back from a month long break from anime.

It's always for the best to take a break when you are starting to get a bit tired of watching anime but it's also good to not watch to much anime so you don't burn yourself out in the first place.

I am currently limiting myself to about 3 or 4 episodes a day. I find that to be the sweet spot for me. I watch 2 episodes in the morning and 2 episodes before going to bed.

Burnout often happens with me, but I see it as a good thing, because when I get back into watching a new show, it's usually something of a brand new genre, or something that really gives me a fresh feeling to watch and I love it.
