Also, its not filler, fairy tail zero contains important history of the founding of the guild and surrounding circumstances, which will most likely be important in understanding future fairy tail arcs. For one, mavis is, in some sense, still alive. She is just encased in some weird crystal, as seen near the end of the tartaros arc. This will, likely play a major role in the future story development of the series, so knowing her backstory must be important.
