Nani??!!!! Saiyuki without Sanzo? The show would never be the same. There'd be no one to keep Goku in order, no one to shut Gojyo up. Sanzo is basically what keeps the group together. I might still watch it but I don't think it would be as great.

Saiyuki - Sanzo= ZZZ...
Saiyuki + Sanzo= Awesomeness!

I couldn't agree more. After all, he IS my favorite character. My 2nd is probably Goku.

There is 1 gigantic thing wrong with Saiyuki without Sanzo. Saiyuki is the literal translation for Journey to the West, In which Sanzo is one of the main characters together with the rest of the cast. Which means that technically none of them can be replaced, at least not without going a couple of thousand years back in time and rewriting one of the 4 chinese great novels(of which there are 5). That and Sanzo is just to great an anime character.

There, kind of, can't be a Saiyuki without him. I do like the other three especially Hakkai, but Sanzo is the one who ties them all together for the journey. I couldn't watch it without him unless he had an even greater replacement.

If Sanzo weren't there I don't think the show would be as good. I'd watch it because I like Goku, Gojyo and Hakkai as well, but it wouldn't be the same. Each character brings something to the series, each one has their own little quirk that works. But without Sanzo I don't think they'd be on a journey together.

Yo guys, I do agree. Without Sanzo... it's not the same though Gojyo's super funny and Goku is funny as well and Hakkai can be kinda funny at times.

Yes, I would still watch it, co'z I wouldn't miss Sanzo if I didn't knew he existed in the 1st place. Though a character like him not existing would make Saiyuki less interesting for me.

no cause it wont be the same. And if there was no Sanzo then no one could laugh as he bet up gojyo and goku. What other priest can put up with those two if not sanzo?

I think the combination of 4 of them (characterization) was the reason why the story is interesting, comparing to original Sun Go Kong story.

Sanzo is the hub of the Saiyuki wheel- everything revovles around him in some way, & the wheel would collapse w/o him!

I think Sanzo is a unique character. Oh, and I wonder what Sanzo will be like if he wielded a sword? (I"m thinking of the zanpakuto in Bleach) So cool~

Of course, I would watch it! I love the story as well as Kazuya Minekura's art in the manga!

@sasuke
Sanzo with a zanpakuto.... somehow that doesn't look quite right.

Afer watching Gunlock.... Sanzo and his gang must be together. If any of them were removed from the Saiyuki series, it just wouldn't be right. We've seen on occasions where when one of them leaves.... the atmosphere is not right and eventually they'll regroup

I started watching it becaue my friend was on a Gojyo kick, and me curious enough to watch it. So I watched two episodes because "I had to see Gojyo."

But I stuck around for another 48 because of Sanzo.

I probably would've dropped a Saiyuki without Sanzo. ;3

There would be no fun in Saiyuki without Sanzo. He is what kept the series going after all.
But still I might watch to find out what how the series continues without Sanzo.

I don't think i would. I mean Sanzo like ties the whole group together. You have the lovable child (Goku) The really responsible one (Hakkai) The perv of the group (Gojyo) and you have the handsome main character who has an anger problem (Sanzo)
If he wasn't there the whole series would be messed up.

yeah agreed^ sanzo is the life of the story but I wouldnt mind watching still as the rest of the chars are equally awesome IMO n the group would be better off under the responsible guidance of Hakkai, don't think he could handle Goku and Gojyo's constant banter all alone though (lol)

Frankly speaking though, don't think such a scenario is possible as they will be needing his maten scriptures n related matra chanting skills if they want the story line to continue and beat that witch & freaky scientist, without Sanzo's hot- headedness, they definately don't stand a chance so why leave him off and imagine a saiyuki without our beloved main character!

I'd still watch it because I kinda like Gojyo (just a little bit) but I feel Sanzo is pretty essential to the show. Definitely would be much less interesting without him around.
