I have an interesting theme this time around (at least to me). I hope it turns out well:
Soundtrack
This mixtape will include tracks from soundtrack scores to movies, television, and video games, and it won't be restricted to those. Anything you think would be a good soundtrack would apply. Examples include soundtracks to specific situations in fiction, reality, or your imagination, and emotions felt in those times, such as happiness, anger, sadness, regret, fear, or excitement.
Any genre is okay, as long as you stick to the "soundtrack" mentality. What song is a good soundtrack to you? If you're having trouble understanding what this means, here are some sample themes:
- Walking alone in a forest at night
- Police chase
- War
- Space travel
- Quiet bar
- Badass walking music
You should be able to think of at least one song that would make a good soundtrack to the above examples. Try to come up with your own soundtrack ideas as well and choose a song for it.
Rules:
- One song per person. If you can't choose, submit two songs and I will pick one.
- Post a link to the song you want. Mediafire, zShare, and MegaUpload are examples of file hosting sites. If you do not provide a link to your song, it won't be added to the mixtape.
- You must post your song in this thread. I will not accept songs sent to me through any other means.
- mp3 format only. No exceptions. High quality preferred. Recommended bitrate is 192kb/s, and minimum bitrate is 128kp/s. All songs below the required quality will be rejected.
-All songs must be under 10 minutes in length.
- No reserving spots. First come, first served.
- Goal number of tracks is 12-20, and the limit is 25, so if you want your song included, post it early!
- The deadline is 11:59PM Pacific Time, May 2, 2009. I will not accept song submissions after the deadline.
In addition to the usual rules, there is one special rule:
- Instrumentals only. No lyrics. That means no verses, choruses, etc. Some vocal samples are okay though.

I was first thinking of picking some ambient like Akira Yamaoka or Jesper Kyd, but then I decided to pick this instrumental since it's one of my favorite bands. No lyrics, epic riffs say much more than words.
Kokonoe said: That means no verses, choruses, etc.
Shame, here I was going to upload the track that would turn out to be the best in this mix by default.
I guess First Flight will have to do instead of The Unsung War.
EDIT: I've decided to make my own soundtrack mixtape as a blog sometime in the near future, simply because it took so damn long to decide what I wanted people to hear =|.
Here's a little bonus for everyone =D. Kudos to anyone who knows what it's from (not that I can remember it ever being in there, but it's on the disc with the rest of the soundtrack =\).
This piece really has something dark to it, and it's perfect for it's genre (instrumental, purely piano). It's fitting if you imagine a cynical/mind-fuck situation basically.
I really wanted to use an instrumental from the new CunninLynguists album, most of them still have too many vocals though. Hope this one qualifies. If not, np. (:
I need the artist and song titles in English letters please, otherwise the song won't be added. Japanese, kanji, and other special/abormal/non-English characters are a pain to deal with.
The first time I heard this song (at least, the first that I remember), it was incredibly nostalgic, even though (as far as I remember), I had never heard it (or at least not enough for it to be nostalgic). All I know is that when I hear it, I feel like it should definitely be in a movie. Maybe it is. Maybe that's why it's nostalgic. I have no fucking clue. It's pretty bizarre. Anyway, here it is:

It's from the Stay OST and I only just realised how unknown the composers seem to be =/.
No, I prefer your first submission. Please refrain from trying to change your song in the future, your mind should already be made up when you post a song. Make your song choice count the first time.
Anyway, great playlist. Don't really have a favorite from all of them, since it's very diverse and good overall.
Susumu Hirasawa was the biggest surprise, IMO. Didn't have this song of his; glad I do now.
Jim Matheos's The Language of Silence and Garry Schyman's Cohen's Masterpiece. Also liked Yuki Kajiura(Kara no Kyoukai?) and Bill Evans and basically everything else.
Ah released just in time. Downloaded a bunch of OST's recently and only finished listening to them yesterday just to remember that this is out to continue satisfying my current sountrack binge =D. Let's see what's on here then...
