Hellraiser and Inferno are good. You can definitely skip Deader and Hellworld. Hellseeker is pretty bad, but still watchable.

I sometime have funky grammar, sorry about that. If you can correct some of my post, you would be an angel.

With Fire and Sword (1999)-Polish historical drama detailing part of the Khmelnytsky Uprising of the 17th century. Good Stuff and while not 100% historically accurate it does a better job than a huge majority of Hollywood's historical movies

Starring Lee Young-Ae. I've been watching a lot of non-English films recently. :| But I don't regret a single minute of them or this movie. It's very good, and a little old.

This past weekend was the Toronto After Dark Film Fest. Saw REC3 and Zombies VS Cockneys. REC3 was pretty terrible but Zombies VS Cockneys was entertaining from start to finish =] Also saw Sinister right before the weekend and that was a nicely done horror film for once.

Inferno is the worst, and the first Hellraiser is quite bad too. Hellbound & Bloodline are decent. My favourites are Hellseeker & Hell On Earth.

Some more horror movies:

The Prowler 6/10 - early 80s slasher, decent.

The Frighteners 7/10 - great start, goes downhill after the 1st 20 minutes or so.

Angel Heart 8/10 - very good horror mystery, quite slow but worth it, great ending.

Mimic 6/10 - my least favorite del Toro movie, it seems like the script got butchered by the studio.

Scream 2 5/10 - incredibly boring sequel, way too long.

Inferno is the worst, and the first Hellraiser is quite bad too. Hellbound & Bloodline are decent. My favourites are Hellseeker & Hell On Earth.

Well, even if Clive Baker never been an perfect director (his stuff always end quite cheesy). The 1rst still have some interesting metaphoric stuff which make it a bit more interesting than any other.

>Hospital scene, with the flower just before she open the box
>The whole metaphor with religion:

>The family topic (but that's a bit overdone in horror movies, and often better than that.)
etc..

The 2nd one was ok as there's more scene in cenobite's world and the doctor is cool enough. Inferno is indeed quite bad, but it somehow reminded me Jacob's Layer, and I kinda liked the character development. (I found the plot quite similar to Hellseeker actually, same twist...)

To me only the 1rst one can be labelled as good Movie. Other one were diverting enough, but I didn't find much interest in those.

Well, that still the best Clive Baker stuff on screen I guess. Even Midnight Meat Train was really disappointing.

The first two Hellraiser films are the best ones imo. I can't really think of any other Clive Barker movies that I would label as good horror. I do have a soft spot for Night Breed mainly because I saw that when I was a kid and I couldn't sleep at night for months without a night light (that damn monster with the dreadlocks, fucker gave me nightmares).

I really miss the makeup and effects of the 80s/early 90s. Everything looks fake and terribad nowadays.

Also last film I watched, I Saw the Devil. Pretty much the most fcked up film I've ever seen. Good job, Korea.

My Halloween marathon:

Dark Shadows: A simple gothic comedy with a vintage taste. Not Tim Burton's masterpiece, but better than others. (7/10)
The Awakening: Started out good, became disappointing; the ending is flat. Still a nice ghost story. (6/10)
Sweeney Todd: Another remake by Tim Burton. I loathe musicals, so I didn't really appreciate this one. Too long and uninteresting. (6/10)

@ Hapax

I see your point; the first Hellraiser is indeed a classic of sort, and brought some interesting and sick ideas, but I still cannot call it "good". The horror genre is always and almost entirely subjective.

Oh well, I'm certainly biased because I loved those stories in Blood Books, and I was disappointed by how they adapted the plot, can't be helped. I guess Candyman wasn't bad. I don't remember well (seen it years ago). It wasn't really scary and certainly less gore than something like MMT, but it certainly worth watching.

Cold Creek Manor: I expected something supernatural, but was completely wrong. Not very scary or thrilling. Nice male cast. (5/10)
Catacombs: Actually not as dreadful as I thought. Fairly creepy at times, but still cliché. Satisfying ending. (5/10)
Cube Zero: Prequel of The Cube. Slightly less horrible than the first, although still unlikeable. Decent progression. (5/10)

All of these horror movies were mediocre, yet had a few interesting aspects; not a complete waste of time.
