Her (2013)

A lonely writer develops an unlikely relationship with his newly-purchased operating system that's designed to meet his every need.

What do you think, MAL?
Do you think you'd watch it? I'm quite interested in this movie, the premise is simple and not like it never being done before, but seeing at Joaquin Phoenix acting I couldn't resist to watch this.

Anyway, this reminds me of some old videos:

Nothing happens remotely close to what this movie is described as being about in NHK. I'm not sure how you got to that even having seen neither. Satou isn't a writer and barely ever uses a computer aside one arc where he plays FFXI.

Everything about Her is simply beautiful, such a heartfelt film. I was so engrossed in Theodore and Samantha's conversations, how their relationship develops, how the people around them react to it... The focus is very much on the couple, but even the side characters and the little details about this world are engaging. We are fed pieces of information without being too overwhelming, subtly, in just the right amount. And it just feels so real. As you have said, it's not like the idea hasn't been done before, but Jonze avoided so many silly things you might expect from a premise like this.

I'd recommend it to pretty much anyone who likes films, really.

Sadly, I wasn't able to see this when it came out. I've heard nothing but good things however, so the moment it becomes available on BluRay it's mine. Can't wait.

It's a beautiful film about many things. It captures the sadness of divorce perhaps better than any film I've seen.
