Seems the dub scrapped an episode because it was too similar to Peter Pan, of all the reasons.

I empathize with Darling-san, I do. Young children are innocent and pure, not a single harmful bone in their bodies. But once they start growing up, there is always a chance of them losing all their guilelessness and purity, turning into a dull, prejudiced adult. Unless they have the proper guidance, things won't go as awry as Darling-san feared. A point which he failed to realize. And this has always been at the forefront of my mind, but everyone around Astro would go old and, eventually, welcome Death's embrace, but what about Astro? Sure he might get an upgraded body, making him look more mature and age appropriate, but Astro is eternal in all sense of the word. It would be an interesting prospect to have an Astro Boy extended spinoff where it explores such ideas.
