Charizard vs. Entei is one of the all time great pokemon battles. That alone gets the movie a seven.

Why is the movie rated lower than the 2 before it ? -_-
Unlike the other 2 which while enjoyable as a kid as well as for nostalgia are very cheesy and have huge plotholes everywhere.
And this the third one actually has a mature story of dealing with grief wonderfully tied in with pokem without it feeling forced, actual proper trainer vs trainer battles, and a far more personal reasons for ash getting involved (i.e. mum kidnapped, instead of being some chosen one saving the world).
Don't get me wrong the first 2 movies are good for a pokemon movie, this one is good for a film in general. Stupid MAL ratings :/

Charizard coming in with the save.
Pretty good story with themes of dealing with loss and rather being in your own dream world (escaping from reality).

Also loved the starter battle between Ash and Lisa.
I'd say it was on par with the previous movie despite being completely different.

Watched this movie as a kid back then when it aired on tv first for the time and seen it many times throughout the years, used to love it as a kid but as an adult now I more so like it. For it's simple story of a child wanting to see her mom again and then losing her dad was kind of touching story this movie give kids that grow up with out a father and or mother in their life something that relates to those emotion you go though and how tough it feels and hurts not having you parents their with you. The visual Aesthetic of the late 90's and early 2000's Pokémon films will always be my favorite time period. Many great shots love the underwater battle with misty showing off how water base Pokémon battle in their natural environment, also like the flower field and windmills near the mansion giving a warm vide to the simple time their in. The music fits well with the film meaning and understanding. The whole gang did great and Molly & Entei character were amazing in this film, This is the only time were Ash's Mom is the most important character in helping Molly the most getting her to understand that this dream world is only a short escape form her realty, the nostalgic feeling this movie gives off it hits home.

quite a ride! really nice concept, execution felt like it left a bit to be desired but still a damned good ride. some really really tasty animation and yes there was a bit too much CGI for my taste but the real stuff was satisfying. musical score didn't quite do it for me as much as the first two movies but still sufficient.
when Charizard flew in i was like WOOOOOOOOOOOOO and that whole final felt pretty great, nice simply easy feelgood wrap up too. Molly's dad finally got her a momma!
can't blame her for getting into this whole mess in the first place though because i wish Ash's momma was my momma too ^_^
think this movie would actually do it for me a lot more on a rewatch, so i'm jealous of you guys who are watching it with that nostalgia factor. must be amazing

visual design wise i love this, it looks so cool. the ost at misty's fight is also amazing.

why did the tv crew broadcast ash and his mom casually talking?
why did molly just decide that entei was her dad and ash's mom her mom?
why did the unknown even follow molly's wishes?
how did they find molly's mom? didnt she disappear and no one knew where she was?

ash is also very stupid with making totodile and cyndaquil fight entei. what did he think they could do :D?
