Path of Exile? Leveling in D&D games is also varied and very interesting.

I quite like FFV jobs and that, i have only played about 5 hours of it but i do like it :) 3 sorta follows suit here :)

SMT: nocturne/lucifers call, i like the talking to demons aspect and capturing and fusing etc. (only played an hour but it's similar to persona in that sense) also i think it is the only turn based game i have ever seen where you actually get to distribute your stat points as you wish, except for p2 which is atlus again, ah man i can't get enough of atlus i wanna play all of their games xD :)

Yeah that is a good one to imo, i liked the sphere grid, though at first it is really overwhelming. I just looked at it and thought "well shit" and "WHERE THE FUCK DO I GO" ahhh good times :P

If only the ALFheim Online skill system was real, that'll be cool. No levelling so people could be real sleepers in PvP modes.

How would you go about exploiting it?

Like my answer for almost anything that' is "What's you're favorite *something* in a game?" I'll go with Fallout. Always loved the way it did it. I believe that Fallout coined the term perks and was the first RPG to use them so that's something. Plus just the simple allocation of skills points based on your intelligence stat into a number of categories. That's clearly not the most unique, but I felt it was well done and effective.

I also always thought Titan Quest had the coolest skill / leveling system just with the big problem of the game being extremely grindy and level progression being painfully slow. So you'd have to grind for a long time, just to get a few skill points that barely make a dent in the big picture. It was frustrating seeing what could be this awesome thing laid out in front of you, but not being able to fully see it come to fruition unless you sink a lot of repetitive gameplay time into it.

Just to mention that recently my first foray into the Elder Scrolls franchise with Skyrim opened me up to the cool, "level stuff up as you use it system" that despite being able to easily exploit it I still felt was well done and just fun. And credit to Borderlands for taking the most basic leveling system and making it really fun and work well in a FPS.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution,
Because a level-up is not +8 Dmg but it changes gameplay!
all of the sudden you can boom your way through walls!

Or you fall from any height safely allowing you to go to places you weren't able to visit before!

Add a typhoon witch fires mini bombs in a 360 degree radius around you!

LOL he expanded on it about as much as you did with yours.

I'm in agreement though, FFX had the most unique level up system in an RPG I've played so far.

I'd vote for Thousand Arms.
There's no level up in a sense of leveling up the character, it is upgrading your weapon as he is a magical blacksmith. There's a catch here, in order to make his weapon stronger, he must imbue it with love. Therefore he must make girls to fall for him (there's a dating sim sub-game). Eventually, his method to obtain stronger weapons, skills, and magic ultimately creates the ultimate harem.
(I swear when I was watching Kaminomi I instantly remember this game MC)

Nelsha, the yandere candidate.

Man, I wish they reboot this game, along with Konami's Azure Dreams.
