Gonzo has created a theatrical film version of Afro Samurai that will include new footage made just for the feature version. The show was shown on Spike TV in the US in January and on WOWOW in Japan in May. The film version is set to debut at the Cinema Rise theater in Shibuya on October 27th and then in select theaters across Japan.

I haven't seen the series either so I may wait for the movie to make it over here too. Especially since it is just a condensed version of the series.

I think most people on a whole expected too much of Afro Samurai as a series, Its basically a mindless violence and hack n slash 6 ep series. I pretty much gathered that from the lil blurbs I saw on the TV.

As far as it was ment to go, as a hack n slash flic, I think it was great. Cant wait to see the movie.

I agree...I approached it like Sandy said, expected some mindless violence and a lot of SLJ being crazy, and was so disappointed. Duller than a bag of rocks. :/

Really!? Is the new footage created for theatrical movie of Afro, or deleted from the Director's Cut Version?

My thoughts exactly. My expectations weren't even that high, and the show still didn't deliver. The only good point is the art, which is pretty snazzy. I doubt I'll even take the time to watch the movie though.
