This. I've used VLC and it has a lot of flaws, but one of the main ones in my opinion is that it can display typesetting incorrectly, I tested a video in VLC and the same video on MPC-HC and realized that it was VLC that warped the position of the typesetting, not the subbers.

Actually, MPC is the one that displays them wrong.

I use xy-vsfilter (following this guide) instead of the MPC built-in renderer.

I'm referring to MPC-HC with madVR. I think the default renderer sucks, and madVR is perfect imo. VLC definitely did display the sign incorrectly though, the typesetting was almost vertical on a horizontal sign, so I know it was messed up.

So was I. madVR has nothing to do with the subtitles, it's a MPC problem.

Can we like have a NORMAL discussion for once, instead of argue and trying to start a debate on something so redicilous. Honestly that is all i see in these forums these days. So tiring. Its hard to ever enter into a discussion and provide my own feedback cause i won't want to be the center of an argument.

I like how you provided no real input into this thread except complain about the arguing. And since unlike you, I will actually provide input so, I use MPC HC.

Just downloaded the latest version of VLC, seems legit. Haven't tried anything super demanding, though.

VLC is relatively bad for watching anime. You should look into MPC-HC + madVR if you have time.

I may if anything starts to lag or have trouble rendering, but there's no point in upgrading until then. I had MPC-HC with CCCP before and still had trouble playing high end stuff (like Shinkai's works or Kara no Kyoukai), but I have nothing of that quality right now to test on VLC so we shall we.

Arguably it's VLC. But sometimes I get a green screen with that player when I start up an episode so I have CCCP installed as well.

Update to latest nightly? you should constantly update it to keep up with subber's new encodes

I find on mac, the best is VLC and the next would be Vuze's updated HD player, which is basically MPC

on windows I prefer CCCP but have VLC as a back up.

Have you even tried the new version of VLC? And even if you haven't, that's fine, what you have works for you. Likewise, VLC works for the people who prefer it. So why should they switch?

I use MPC the most. And Potplayer for when I'm having troubles with a video (if its 10bit or a weird format or something.)

I switched from VLC to Zoom Player years ago because VLC was having trouble with some exotic anime files, and Zoom Player has just never disappointed me since then. Why does noone use it?
I probably regret this post by now.

Because it's proprietary software. Open-source is better most of the time.

I use the MCP that comes with the K-lite codec pack I used to use VLC but it seemed to kinda lag which was probably a problem from my computer.

Switched to MPC after using the standard WMM which was already installed on my computer, and I think it's great. It allows me to watch either dub or sub, providing the download is dual audio, so I no longer have to download both versions. Haven't tried out any of the other features, but I'd recommend MPC based solely on that.
