| I think several characters from Durarara are unique such as Izaya and even Mikados split personality. Theres alot of different array of characters in this anime making it a different style then other animes, but yet making itself original. But then again the story line compliments the characters unique traits making it a good watch. |

| Shinji Ikari- The way he was presented and in the context of his time, immortalized him as one of the most important of all time. Although we see some attemps of reproduction of him, they all fail at being as great and as profound like eva made him Yang Wenli-unusual genius, we often see he confronting his the ideals he has to follow than confronting the "enemy"... Saito Tatsuhiro- One of the few well presented "Neet" characters i can think of... He is a real broke character from the start, druged( its occult on the show), depressed, paranoic, and as the anime goes on, we get to know even more of how messy the character is, and how awful is the world from his perspective. |

| Shogo Makishima from Psycho Pass is my favourite character from an anime and probably the most layered, interesting and unique villain I have ever seen. This personal opinion though. Some of the above characters that I have seen named have been very unique as well, in particular Alucard from Hellsing. Not only for how he is, but because of the way that he is the main character of the series |
| Shiki Ryougi, she's simply one of a kind. Also Tatsuya Shiba, people who only watched the anime may thing he's a generic stoic MC, but if you've read the LNs, you'll realize he actually incredibly unique. |

| Anthy Himemiya from Revolutionary Girl Utena for me. I don't personally like her, but she's very, very different from most anime characters. You'll never fully understand who she really is, she's very complex and abstruse, and I really appreciate her character building. Yoshino Takigawa from Blast of Tempest could fit too, I wouldn't say he's that different, but he's pretty calm, polite, hard to read and has that very subtle cunning about him. |
