Ok, sorry for this discussion buuut,

I'm trying to get my brother to watch 1 episode of Gintama.

But, what is the FUNNIEST Gintama episode? (either from season 1 or 2) in your opinion?

I was thinking of showing him the funeral episode in Gintama'.
He's really picky, and hates anime (according to him), but tell me. Which episode? (:

This is an extremely hard question. there are way too many episodes worthy of "funniest"

Problem with just showing a random episode is some jokes will just go by a first timer cause of all the character and running jokes. You could try him on Eps202/203 though (the timeskip arc aka Ep1/2 of Gintama') cause they were hilarious and might be somewhat suited to a newcomer.

Or maybe try the JUMP Festa Special 2005 cause it's a pretty good stand alone episode and has some of the funniest skits from the earliest episodes. Introduces all the main characters too.

The beetle hunt episode is my personal favourite. Also, the one where Gintoki gets handcuffed with Hijikata also was pretty good, and as far as I remember, it didn't rely on running jokes.

ep 152 the shogun in the barbershop..i made my friend who havent watched gintama and also me (even though i already seen it once) rofl so hard ..our stomach hurt
I WILL NEVER FORGET THIS EPISODE IN MY WHOLE LIFE

if your friend dont want to watch a whole ep ...just go to youtube then watch gintama epic fried rice .....
if you want to show the epic fights in gintama type gintama samurai heart
and gintama best fight (gintoki and katsura team up -benizakura arc movie) in youtube

The drunk arc, by far. I believe it's episode 38 and 39 of the second season. The one that start's off with

. Madao's punchline at the end made me lose it.

In fact, I can't think of an episode of any anime that made me laugh so much.

The lack of toilet paper episode was probably a close second.
