Nice chapter, the main character (don't remember his name ^^') is starting to get interested into the mangaka thing, so this should speed things up a bit.
And why do Ooba likes so much to have characters that are genius? :P

The psychological nature of this keeps it interesting. Can't wait until they decide on the type of manga they're going to be doing.

The "smart" convo was nice...a guy that's smart and uses it to get to the top of the class...a girl that's smart and reigns in that intelligence so as to fit in better with the rest of the class...and another guy that's smart but would rather just have an ordinary life...which is changing oh so quickly now...xD

Hm...liked the different kinds of intelligence they talked about. It was interesting.
Yay, a studio! Now they be real mangakas. =3

Also. Azuki is so adorable! Ah! I hope we get to see more of her.
Saiko and Takagi are cute tooo. ^^

wow yeah the intelligence convo was definitely interesting. i really enjoy how things like this can be really seen in real life. can't wait to see what happens. i really didnt think his father and grandfather would accept/allow him to be one so easily. pretty cool that that happened tho.

pretty good chapter, it's starting to get interesting. I'm looking forward to the whole romance thing but there are two things that worry me:

1. Moritakas behaviour towards Azuki: I hope this won't be any generic manga-romance, where the main-character is unable to speak to the person he likes for ages.

2. The smart-guys-theme: I hope this won't end up in some genius-battle like in Death Note.

A good follow-up to the first chapter, but I hope this introductory "oh yeah, everything is going great" phase doesn't last for too much longer or I'm going to get bored with it pretty fast.

Following this kid's train of thought is really neat, Ooba really has a knack for it is seems.
Still sticking with it the 2 leads are really good and I imagine many more really good conversations between them.

Well, I didn't like the fact that this chp is accusing girls of being stupid... and that they"dont undersatnd men dreams"... and that smart girls are not appealing at all.
Is this really the way most guys think? Wow. -_-'

Other than that, an ok chapter. Looking forward to seeing the studio.

To be honest, I didn't like Saiko in the first chapter, he seemed a pretty weak main character to me. But seeing the way he replies to Takagi, by dodging and twisting the questions, I really begin to see the Death Note authors' spirit within him. It's like he changed radically in such a short time, and I like his new side much better.

Uh oh. I'm getting that feeling from an Ohba manga again. The feeling that says: "This manga is smarter than me." Still, a GREAT chapter with fantastic dialogue. The "women can't understand men's dreams" nagged at me a little, but I'm sure Azuki will be a strong female lead.

I like they way his father approved his idea of becoming a mangaka, lol.The way his grandfather gave the keys to the studio, too. I think the studio we'll be a huge mess and they'll have to clean it all up (or just leave it lol).

The chapter and the conversation was amazing

I believe the studio has a trap or a hidden secret, something important that is the test of his father and granpa for Saiko to see if he really wants to become in a mangaka

Waiting the next!

I really liked Akito after Chapter 1, but what he said in this chapter really annoyed me. I'm one of those girls who got good grades in school and was proud of it. Does that really make me stupid? Maybe I should get breast implants to be considered "smart." After all, it'll make guys want me more and land me a husband.

I need to remind myself that Akito is just a fictional character and that he's a 14-year old boy.

That said, I love dialogue and therefore I enjoy Ohba's work. My eyes usually glaze over action sequences in manga.

I wasn't insulted by the difference between the mother and father's reactions though. My parents applied the same sort of sexism in real life. They wanted my brother to follow his dream and they wanted me to have a practical job.

Sadly, in this post-feminist world...gender equality=idealism...sexism=realism.

Liked the end of the chapter. Also didn't like the talk about girls..
even though I can understand why they think that way, however, in real life things aren't as simple as that. Too lazy to go into that now but if guys really think that way.. you really don't understand girls at all.. ^^

I thought this was some of the most sexist pages I have ever read in any manga.
The whole girls should act dumb thing was shockingly sexist especially for the main characters.
As someone who was always the smartest in her class a bunch of pages in this made me want to barf or punch them out.

Aww, his chest tightens just being in the same room. How sweet is that?

His family (especially the guys) took this surprisingly well. Now the path is clear towards his dream. I'm also wondering what a "name" is.

Okay, I’m glad I’m not the only one who caught that.

“She’s [Iwase] the smartest girl in class grade-wise, but I don’t like how she takes pride in that. That’s why I actually think she’s dumb.”

Wow, Takagi, so the girl is dumb because she takes pride in being smart? Where’s the logic in that?! Sorry that not every pretty girl wants to pander to your need to feel superior by pretending to be less intelligent.

But there’s more!

“She [Azuki] knows what it means to be a girl. She knows by instinct that the best thing for a girl is to get married and become somebody’s wife…”

Riiiiiiight. So yeah, the first chapter was intriguing but now I’m disinclined to finish after this hunk of misogyny in the second chapter.

I didn't really fully understand what Shujin was trying to say in that section when he went on about Azuki, but I didn't really take much offense because I felt like it was just what he thought. You don't need to feel threatened by someone else's thoughts, especially if that person is fictional - of course, if that's definitely the author's opinion, you still don't need to be so threatened that you can't enjoy their books. I'm comfortable with who I am as a person and a girl and I don't care if Ohba Tsugumi thinks that the best thing for a girl is to get married and be somebody's wife, nor do I know that he actually DOES think so, just because his character said so. Azuki seems determined to pursue her dream as a voice actress and I like that. Honestly, I'm much more annoyed by the idiot female characters in Death Note than by the ones in Bakuman! :D

I'm annoyed by sexist parts and I think writer definitely thinks like that about women. It's idiotic that Japanese society like that in real world as well even though Japan is one of the most developed countries. Smart women can be more attractive in many ways, you can chat with them in many topics reasonable, also they can perform many things and they should know they can do it, this gives them solid characteristic. Thoughts like in this manga just indicates that writer is childish, visionless and has ancient simplistic brain. I hope this manga can fix itself in future episodes and mangakas can show that they are not this kind of people.
