I buy them in physical form or get them from the library. I don't really have the patience to read entire graphic novels on my netbook anymore, ergo no scans for anything longer than an (unlicensed) one-shot.

Mostly read the physical manga's. I would love to find a safe site to read manga online that is free.
THe sites I have found are badly translated or the scans are huge and take forever to scroll.
I would love recommendations for sites though if anyone is willing.

Both, Sometimes i goto the library to get them because i want to read it physically and not just sit down on my computer staring for like 4 hours but then sometimes reading online is easier and faster, what i mean by faster is you can access the new chapters faster reading the manga in your hands is faster to me and alot of times more clear.

what do you mean by up - to - date, do you mean when it says it's going to come out it comes out at the exact correct time or do you mean it always follows the series o_o; sorta confused me there.

I read online, the only series I've read not online is Mars and some other random manga found at the library, which I've never got to finish.

I started out with online readers like Mangafox, but then quickly switched to downloading the actual scans from Mangatraders.

I read all my manga on my laptop.

i mean for example..i´m living in germany..there the mangas are started later...so as example in germany you can buy the latest volume, lets say 5...but in japan the volume 10 was released about a month ago..

Sometimes I buy them, sometimes I read online/mobile, and sometimes I just go to the library (Mostly the the first two).

Both. I prefer reading the actual volumes, but I'm poor, and the library I go to only has 8 (incomplete) series available, and I've read through 6 of them already (1 of them 4 times). But sometimes my friend and I will swap ones that the other hasn't read, but now we're at different schools, and our schedules are completely different, so it's near impossible to meet up with her. T_T

So then I read online. I read manga faster when I have the volumes than I do online, but there are still good sites for them that are pretty quick and have good translations and quality, so I really can't complain.

I don't download manga, though. I just read scans online.

I'm more of a hybrid person. I Either buy or borrow the actual printed copy, but I also read online. Took me 6 years to reach 300 manga volumes owned, but I fear the amount it could be overall read.

Whichever I could get my hands on.. if there's some particular titles that catch my interest, I usually download it then save it on my HDD if it's not available on a local book store or if it's too much trouble to go to a book store...but if the one available on the book store cover more story than online scanlation I'd usually ends up buying all the available volumes.. and yes that include the volumes which I already read online

Online - convenient and I heard actually buying from a book is expensive and it's difficult actually finding it as well. I'll have the physical book of my favorites - i.e. things rated 10.

And I download manga that isn't licensed in my country and read it on my computer.

I read manga via my PSP for a while, but got annoyed with how the quality would vary so between chapters, based on the translating, editing, quality of scanning, those sorts of things.
It really put me off the joy of reading, so I decided to put a hold on manga and just read what I buy, (which isn't a lot, and not very often).

I wish I could read manga physically but my parents hate it for reasons I don't even know so I don't read it physically. I use mangareader.net and save the scans of chapters into files onto my computer, and then use Mangle to make them compatible with my Kindle 3 and then read them on there. This way I can take them anywhere and am not limited to a computer. I have to put something on the lower portion of my screen, though, or I'll peak ahead in chapters when I'm saving the images. ^^;

At the moment I have up to Ch. 42 of Faster than a Kiss on my Kindle, and a few other manga. I try not to put too much on it because I'm afraid it'll lag.

I download my manga from Manga Traders and read on my computer. I don't like to sit and stare at a screen clicking page after page though so I don't read much manga.

Like everyone else, I'd love to have the physical thing in my hand but it's either unavailable or too expensive.

Seems like I'm not alone in prefering the physical manga books to scans, no matter how high quality they are. There's just something about curling up with a book that's much more relaxing and pleasant than being hunched over a laptop or computer.

I read manga online. I download all my anime for quality, re-watchability and AMV material (best friend makes 'em) but I draw the line at manga, since I tend to only read chapters once unless they're in book form which makes them more easily transportable. I try to collect manga books for my favourite series since the age old availability and expense issue crops up a lot of the time. I'd LOVE to get my hands on Deadman Wonderland manga for example, but the fact that it was being published by the now dead Tokyopop makes it both pointless to collect the books (since there are, as of now, no new releases for the latest volumes) and expensive (because, like I said earlier, Tokyopop is dead and not producing anymore, making the copies that exist rare and even collectable perhaps...).

I read them online, while i try to watch all my anime's legally, its harder to do so with manga. Manga can get a hell of a lot more expensive than anime to buy. To get one series can cost 100-200 dollars if not more for all the books. Compared to anime where i watch it on say Hulu, Netflix, and i buy the DVD's which are only about 20-50 bucks usually for a series.

First, I check out a series by either downloading it from mangatraders, or reading it on mangafox; however, when I really enjoy a series, I buy the hard copies starting at volume 1 (only exception is Genshiken. When I went to a bookstore in SF's Japan Town, volume 1 was missing, but I love the series so much I couldn't leave the store without a copy of the manga. So with that series, I started with volume 2 with the sole intention to buy volume 1 next time I see it! ).
