| Who are all of you and what got you into unusual anime series? My name is Hartley and I got interested into surreal animations and film 1. by being raised in the 90's you are inclined to have a warped mind (i.e. Ren & Stimpy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Cow and Chicken, CatDog, etc.) 2. I was introduced to the horror genre initially at a young age as early as to watching Stephen's King's IT in second grade. Can anybody say nightmare fuel? So now my passions lie with horror and surreal. |

| Hey all. I'm Joe, and though mainstream products can be satisfying in their own way, overall, they lack a certain jenesaisquoi that keeps entertained, or should I say stimulated in the long run. I always had a lot of imagination, but my first big encounter with the bizarre was when I was maybe 10. There was this experimental magasine on tv that lasted about 30 minutes, and they'd just air short experimental movies and animations. I saw that and I thought "wow". In animation, unusual usually means higher standards regarding the art or the story, or at least a research about those in order to broaden the audience's horizon and not just provide a cheap thrill, sure that is enjoyable, but that is also very quickly forgotten. For all these reasons, Unusual is Better(tm). |

| Hi, I'm Romanticide. I guess some of things leading me into unusual anime were being exposed to a lot of age inappropriate sci-fi, fantasy, and horror(-ish) types of movies. That pretty much started it all. I always wanted to watch anime as a kid, but I usually missed it being on. When I did finally start getting into anime and manga and video games, all my friends had refined, evolved tastes that shaped my own "unusual is better" taste. |
