Well, surely you can't just hate a show just because it has mecha in it can you? It's due to factors that are strongly associated with shows that have mecha rather than the mecha's themselves that you hate I'd guess. Or you could really just hate the sight of Mecha. Speaking from considerable bias, I'd say that FMP is worth a look at, it's not just mecha, it's got comedy as well (like the entire series of Fumoffu!). Wouldn't hurt that much to look would it? |

I don't particularly believe it's that uncommon actually, I also hate watching mecha anime although I have been giving Full Metal Panic! a try, can't say it's impressing me that much though. TTGL is the only mecha I ever enjoyed and that's mostly because going in I didn't think I would like it much but the way it developed really caught me off guard. Anyhow...in regards to the topic at hand is it very critical then to know the anime referenced in order to like Lucky Star? Apparently Haruhi Suzumiya had a lot of parodies but I didn't catch many of those. SZS is the only series where I was able to catch a lot of the jokes/parodies and even then I probably missed quite a few. Also, why have they never made a second season of Lucky Star? They've only got more material to work with now considering how many anime have come out since it originally aired. |

Dont worry, I'm not a huge mecha fan..but Full Metal Panic isn't just mecha..tbh they focused on the whole "agent" side of things more than mecha. That's why I liked it more, that and it had good characters. |

| The manager is in multiple shows, on Tsukasa's cell phone and in the crane game it was Keroro Gunsou, full metal alchemist cosplayers, code geass eye, some full metal panic, like the fumofuu stuffed animal in one of their rooms. Initial d with the race when going to the beach and what konata said to her teacher right after that scene. Haruhi showing her multiple times and cosplaying and the most on there is most people's cell phone is the miracle mikuru song from haruhi. The references aren't necessary to think it's a funny anime, I watched it when I first started watching anime, and then again now and now I see a lot more references than before, it's kind of fun. And some like the initial D one were extremely funny and to fully get it and laugh you have to watch the original anime. |

I have come 6 years from the future to tell you that, yes, Lucky Star does make a Clannad reference. It's a really obvious one too. Just look at Tsubasa and Kagami and compare them to Ryou and Kyou. |
