Wow! After 4 episodes, I don't know what else to say.

I was hesitant to watch this, well, because I know how people so closely relate this series to Cowboy Bebop... and well... you all know how I felt about that one (still trying to get back my wasted hours **snicker**)

Anyway, I'm glad to say that this series, thus far (4 episodes watched) is living up to it's reputation. The only thing I don't like about what I've seen so far is the OP song.

And I'm sorry, but can there be another character as awesome as Jin? He's cool, he's calm, he's collected, and then he kicks ass!! Gotta love him!!! Can't wait for the rest of this to finish downloading.

OMG... Episode 6... soooooo funny!!! (The one with the eating contest, and the man from Holland that wants to live in Japan for man love-love)

...Soooooo funny.... but... well... O_o... sooooooo wrong... ROFLMAO. I love this frikkin' show. If CB had been THIS good... well... I digress. I can't wait to see more, but at the same time, I don't want it to end!! =/

eta: I love the little random things they throw in...

...like the image of the beautiful japanese landscape, and the caption "This is Edo... 1888..."

..then they flash at the bottom of the screen... "Which has nothing to do with our story." ROFL...

OK... I'm done...
/rant over

eta2: Jin still kicks ass!!

Yeah...funny but wrong. Exactly why this is my fav anime series so far. Watched all 26 episodes.

And i think: Jin=Mugen

Both have great, fleshed out personailties...well Jin moreso, but they are pretty much equal in skill.

I bought the box set at Anime Expo last year for $200. Its the most expensive series I've seen.

AU $120 wouldn't be US $60. More like $100 (roughly).

But yeah, I've been trying to watch Samurai Champloo (after seeing the first episode/starting it when it first came out), but bleh... after 9 episodes I'm as bored as ever. I guess I just can't watch shows where each episode is self-contained, and the actual plot-line moves slowly.

I have gone on a "Samurai Champloo" marathon... watching 10 episodes today... I finally got off my ass and decided to finish this thing... and it's not because I haven't enjoyed the series (I love it, btw)... just been busy "catching up" with Bleach and lately, watching the new series...

Only 7 more episodes of SC left... I intend to be finished with this by this weekend... YAY!!! (It will be a happy day... and a sad day... when I am done).

Enjoy it while it lasts. The Sara episodes are great, but don't judge 22 and 23 too badly.

Can someone tell me how to do that spoiler thing? I've never done it before, and i obviosuly failed. Very Sorry to spoil the story FurabaFan!

[spolier]Zombies and Baseball. Ugh. The baseball episode is funny, but the zombie one is just stupid.

...and no worries... at least it didn't spoil anything major about the Sunflower Samurai or Jin and his master... the 2 biggest things I'm looking forward to learning about...

The last episode I watched, I learned that the Sunflower Samurai
. But I'm sure there's much more to learn there.

Hahaha... it was definitely a different (and yes, better) look for Jin!! ^_^ I gained so much <3 and respect for Mugen those last few episodes... T_T More than I've had for him through the entire series. Those last episodes were the only time I remember seeing him be selfless... and think of someone other than Mugen. I was happy with the ending... but still kinda surprised.

3) in ep 24 jin said that they passed nagasaki, but in the next day fuu left jin and mugen to an island to look for her dad, why? the island that she went to is that the island that the Christians was on?
4) i didnt get what business jin master have with kagetoki kariya?

1) On a basic level, a Shogunate is a government ruled by a Shogun (this translates best as "warlord"). It's based primarily on military power - think of it as a well-organised samurai junta.

3) Christians were all over the south of Japan at the height of Christianity's popularity, but that's not to say there were actually a lot of them. Many converted to Christianity because it was cool and different, or because they were impressed that it was preached by Jesuits who'd sailed thousands of miles because they believed in what they said, not full of corrupt buddhist clergy, or alternatively because they saw it as a chance to build trade relations with overseas merchants. The few who actually believed in it as a religion were the ones least likely to give it up when it was declared illegal, so it makes sense that they'd maybe go and hide somewhere like a small, out of the way island. I don't know if that specific island was real and/or a christian hotspot or not, but the point is primarily that it's a remote spot.

Really one of the best animes ever made, I am surprised to find this as number 50(!) on the Top Anime list. Can't really understand something like Tengen Toppa is number 1... wtf?

Anyway on topic, Samurai Champloo has the best music, animation, characters and development. I even found the ending the best of all the animes I've watched (Eureka Seven is also in the same league).

PERFECT and recommended anime. 11/10 in my book!

I thought this anime was insanely overrated...

I mean, yeah it had good characters and good music and stuff.....

But did you guys not realize that there was aboslutely no story whatsoever in this anime?? Some of the stories were so inane and dumb....I mean, I thought a 5-year old child wrote the script for some of this stuff.

For a while I actually forgot that they were after the Sunflower samurai....unbelievable....at least half of the anime were filler material.

I loved this series. It oozes coolness from every single frame and the animation is gorgeously fluid. Also a moving story thrown in amidst the zany moments and cooler than cool sword fights. My only complaint is that there was not enough emphasis on Jin who was my favourite character.

Ya towards the end it kinda got too serious. Thats kind of funny becazuse those episodes were the ones where the story was fleshed out.

This anime was cool because each episode the three did something random and funny and met new people. Thats one thing I really liked about this show.

Yeah, this entire anime is on a different level. I wrote a review on it where I basically said as much, but it was absolutely insane how many different elements Watanabe incorporated into the series, and actually made it coherent and entertaining.

An unbelievable masterpiece, arguably even better than the Cowboy Bebop series in some ways.

Yes, I've seen Afro Samurai, but you completely missed the point of the OVA if you thought it was trying to copy Champloo.

It was just trying to entertain you with mindless action sequences over a generic story, nothing more.

Champloo, as you correctly said, was a masterpiece. Afro Samurai never, not in a million years, tried to be one.
