As kira said, it's a prequel. Set before the tv anime series. And yeah I had thought that Yuma, since she's on the cover and all to be Oriko...guess that was a mislead. |

| So far I'm liking Oriko Magica, but I'm not that keen on the artwork. Oriko kind of creeps me out. Yuma is cute though. |
| That first panel with Yuma, just sitting there, where you can't see her legs, and she with a "..." expression... that creeped me out. Random speculah: did Oriko's wish unwittingly gave birth to Walpurgis, and she's seeking redemption? |

| I don't like how Kyouko looks in this manga. :( Oriko and Yuma really interest me. Especially Oriko. She seems to be very mysterious. |
| I love the new cast and returning members. This looks to be as much as fun as Madoka Magica was. |

| I'm giving 5/5 star points for this one due to the intriguing storyline. At first, I thought that green haired girl is Oriko but she is not! [!Cue in the Covers Always Lie trope here]. Oriko Magica is a lot darker and edgier than its darker and edgier parent media which is quite amusing for me. I am looking forward for more. |
