| Anyone know who did character designs for this anime? In response to the OP, I think it's because the way she is drawn allows her to convey expression so effectively. She isn't particularly the most attractive on the show. I think the girl in episode 2 and this episode and Engi are more attractive. But when Merry expresses emotion, its done really well and maybe...makes her seem more human and more believable. That alone makes her character easier to empathize with and perhaps more attractive. |

Masahiro Fujii, who also did character designs for Hayate the Combat Butler!!, Mahoraba, and all 3 Familiar of Zero series. Short skirts + striped thigh-highs + zettai ryouiki is always a winning combination for me. |

| I believe Merry is quickly becoming one of the most popular anime and manga characters, just look at her fans already (She is in my tops). I think everybody is right though, shes extremely cute and has a refreshing personality. |

| I have to say, I found her very appealing after a couple episodes. I have to agree that it's how well she portrays emotions and personality, the design I didn't find all that appealing at first but when you add her "character" to the design it becomes something else entirely. |
