ASUS G74SX with an i7 2630QM Sandy Bridge processor, 8GB RAM, nvidia GTX 560M (1.5GB GDDR5), 1.5TB HD. For $1199

That'll run any 1080p video as well as be able to do some light gaming. Has a nice HDD for storage too.

Geez 1440x900 should be enough, no need to spend more than you need.

Well, I don't know anything about laptops, but when I got mine for christmas we told the people in the stores we visited that I wanted something good for watching anime on, and I ended up with a Sony Vaio E series (at least, I think that's what it's called...). It's one of these:

If you go to a few stores and ask then about good laptops for watching things on, they'll be happy to tell you :)

Buy a laptop.

Buy HDMI cable (assuming you have a Flat Screen TV).

Download CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack).

Torrent Anime.

Watch in MPHCC.

Done.

I use an HP Pavilion dv8 i7 1080p display beast. It's a pain to carry around but it has never had a problem with any video file or high quality game.

It would set you back by £1000 though.

Anything with a Widescreen that does 1080p is fine.
Rest is all up to your internet connection/video card.

I watch everything on my HP DV5000 which is pretty much ancient know but does a very good job since its made to watch movies on.

Got an Aspire 5253-BZ661 as a gift, and it runs 1080i perfectly fine. Generally, if it's in the $500+ range, even via retail, it'll probably do the trick.

You want something that can play 1080p. I'd also suggest looking for one without a glossy display. In any light at all, those are annoying.
