So, to put it not so simply, "blood-related" love, to put it in the nicest way, has always been a trope in anime. Then you have the classic "NOT blood-related but" love excuse. Now, whether this is your cup of tea or not, it's always had a bit of a looseness to it, that this is clearly not real, it's just a show, this wouldn't happen in real life sought of deal. Some anime did just go the full yards with it, but in the end, even those still had a disconnect in some way that allowed the audience to suspend their disbelief.
Shiunji Family feels like it is lacking that disconnect at the moment. Sure, such a family probably doesn't exist too such an extent, but the kind of relationships they have with each other is very much a human thing you can see in the real world. From here, we look at our protagonist, Arata. His love towards his siblings are simply that, love of siblings. Now, why the whole reveal of being adopted throws a wrench in that, if your feelings could change so easily because of such information, then maybe those feelings weren't that strong in the first place. He clearly has some mixed emotions, and feels confused at the moment, which is understandable, but as he said to himself, they are all siblings to each, even if they're not related by blood.
So why ask "Will any of the potential loves ever NOT be weird?". Well the problem here is that I think the fact that they, or at least mainly Arata, sees each other as siblings, means that if they were to ever get into a relationship, that would be the same as getting into a relationship with your sister, even if they aren't related by blood. Add to that, that Kotono being the most forward one, even though she is the youngest and barely turned 15, which makes things feel even weirder; You can see how all of this makes the whole part about him getting into a relationship with any of them would be really weird!
To clarify, I do like this show. It has been fun, and there are definitely weirder shows out there, even done by Reiji-kun himself. It's just that this problem is hampering my enjoyment of the show, and I'm kind of on team "Please just get friendzoned". Anyway, sorry for the rant, just wanted to see if anyone had any opinions on the matter, or if anyone else felt the same.
