Given that the tweet is in english, I think maybe is an official streaming on Crunchyroll or something like that. It would be great that it was a 2nd seasson announcement, but I don't think so
All my friends and I assume it'll probably be an official English release since they posted it on the EN account. I could dream of a 2nd season, but it's too soon for that...
Fandango at Home, Microsoft, Amazon Prime Video and Hoopla
I've never even heard of any of these "digital outlets," except for Prime Video... Do people pay for digital copies of movies/shows these days?
I don't really understand why they wouldn't just put it on a streaming platform. It even finished airing so there's no broadcasting rights to worry about, is there?
GBC fans need to energize again! The weird non-stream method of digital distribution Toei chose for the anglosphere is like weather, can't change it... But one can still decide to stay at home, crying curled up and or go out singing in the rain! While GBC was airing, every single day there were meme'd video snippets and fan translation wars posted all over reddit, etc. and the missing marketing effort was more than made up for by volunteers who shouted WT! in the face of everyone.
There is almost a week until the 13 August debut, so people could still be informed they can and should rent GBC legally from Amazon or Microsoft Store cloud or even for free as in beer through Hoopla, which serves most public libraries. Every day, every hour there need be to meme video clips and fan art and discussion pushed all over the net and every door needs to be knocked on JW Cry style.
Timing is excellent, as this summer anime season is super weak! OnK s2 is obviously dragging out its story, Alya is morally untenable, Bye-Bye Earth, Sakura, etc. ruined themselves and many otaku openly say they score up Makeine just because there is nothing else one could support with good conscience. If people get to know about Garukura, our rocker girls will surely steal New DD fans the season even with 6 weeks of handicap!
Don't worry, I think it's just the BD release of the songs
> just the BD release
GBC's second BD/DVD disc set (containing anime eps 2-3) sold over 10k boxes in its first week. That means japanese fans are largely staying onboard with the franchise, so we can have some hope for the future (like s2 sequel / prequel or a movie).
Non-streaming digital rent / purchase is finally available for Girls Band Cry!
Microsoft's online store sells the whole 13 eps for pennies at 7.49 USD total, but one needs a credit card issued in the USA to buy, rest of the world Mastercards and probably VISA are refused. The only non-card venue offered is Paypal, don't know if that works for non-star-sprangled viewers? Amazon sells the same package for 20USD more, quite cheeky... There is also an online service for anglo-sphere public libraries, called Hoopla, where card holders can watch GBC for "free as in beer". Unlike "tall ship" versions, legal GBC episodes seem to have hard-subbing though (letters burned into the video, no .ASS/.SSA)
Full season of Girls Band Cry anime is now available via Hoopla service for "free as in beer" to anyone in the anglo-sphere with a public library membership. (Apparently, 63% of all US adults hold a library card.) Link:
