I would honestly even recommend not touching the 4th movie either. Rebuilds before and after 2 are completely different and a lot of things from 2 are never brought up again or are just straight up retconed for the sake of this movie which again ultimately doesn't have anything of note happening in it. |

You're free to prove me wrong though i know you will be unable to. the only nod this movie gets in the final film is shinji having ptsd from the collar for one second near the beginning, it's rightfully considered garbage by anyone with a pair of eyes |
